I would love to attend again this year, but hopefully will be on a longer trip out west during most of June.

I strongly encourage anyone who can make it to make plans to go. The monuments at night are wonderful to shoot and there is always something to see and do around town. I agree that a little earlier in the summer you stand a better chance of more comfortable weather.

I think it should be NotaconII (or "2")

Here are some shots from last year's gathering.

I may be biased, but I do think we put together a pretty decent show here. :)

Come one, come all to the best party this summer on the East Coast!

Or at least the best one in DC. :)

Soon as you know the date, I'll see. I'm out of town to BFE North Dakota on the week of the 16th but am very interested.
And OK...I give...what is Notacon!!?

Last year's DC Night Tour was dubbed Notacon (Not a Convention) in the threads, and it stuck. Now your turn... what is BFE?
04/08/2006 07:47:48 AM · #31
It's the unofficial official nickname because Clara refuses to do conventions. :)

It's narrowed down to the first two weekends. I'm waiting on one more reply to finalize. I do make every effort to get as many people here as I can. :)

Also known as the state of North Dakota. ;)

I'm going with a friend visiting, as I LOVE road trips. But I am a beach girl, and cannot justify living somewhere that you have to plug your car battery in at night to make sure it starts in the morning!! Once it drops below 50 I'm ready to head south. And yes, that is where BFE is!! LOL

Yeah I've heard of it! Didn't know the 3-letter identifier for the airport there though - haha thanks!

What would the general schedule look like? Make plans to arrive Fri Eve or Saturday morning would be fine? What about departure?

If I'm looking for a hotel, what section of the city would make sense?

Don't look for hotel yet. :) I'm pulling together a specific location as soon as I get my weekend locked.

Since we have a large crossover between Stillnotacon and NYC GTG 2006 II, I thought I'd point it out so that they don't get scheduled the same day/weekend/whatever...

June 3 is Deaf Awareness Day at Kings Dominion. I'd rather saw off my bad leg than miss that.

Going down
Party time
My friends are gonna be there too..."

Third weekend in June is Friday 16, thru Sunday 18.

I am so in it's not even funny. Probably the only weekend that would have worked for me, and you picked a winner.

I'm in, at least I think so - I can't think of anything that would be in the way of going that weekend. The night shoot is always a blast. This time I think I am staying in the city though. I did that the first time I did this and it was worth it for a close home base. I am not sure if you had some sort of central lodging location in mind though.

Last year was a blast, so count me in! :-)

I'm in again ,We have to remember that they turn the lights off at 2 am for a lot of the monuments , so lets go to them first this time
04/22/2006 06:16:24 PM · #49
I'm thinking I can be there for at least part of it.
04/22/2006 08:53:24 PM · #50
Yeah. Let's do it!!!
