what's up with the exposure date of July 26?? Aren't photos supposedto be taken during the week of the challenge?
11/19/2002 01:27:38 PM · #29
I got a comment last week that said.."no comment"... What is the point of that?

sorry, but what i wanted in focus IS in focus. just because all you have is a disposable snap-shot camera that won't let you control the DOF does NOT mean that a shot with a shallow DOF is out of focus. this might very well be my last challenge. there are too many people that post shots that have NOTHING to do with the theme of the week, and comments like this just annoy the s**t out of me.

sorry for the rant, but i am just PISSED.

Here is a comment you made:

it's bad enough you took a pic of dog shit, but you could have at least focused on it......... >>

I agree with you that some people are not smart, I probably disagree with you about the category YOU think you belong to.

Does your underwhelming average vote of 1.66 represent your intellectual/artistic superiority?

My last post asked the Administrators to comment on a vote average of 1.661, and a photograph with an illegal date.
Now my post has been removed from the forum. WHY??

Sorry, somehow my post jumped threads.

Don't know, JEM. I don't believe it is illegal per se to have a vote average of 1.661 - it does speak volumes though about the person dispensing such votes. How the troll element of such votes get sorted out and eliminated I don't know. The illegal date is another matter. It's either a typo while making the submission or or or . . . it is indeed illegal. The latter would only add to my sense of underwhelmedness. You could email the Admins about it via the Contact under Help.

JEM, are your posts dancing the cancan on the forums?

JEM, can you hear me? Out and Over.

The profile page incorrectly reported votes that were ignored by our vote monitoring system. Only 150 of those 706 votes were ever counted, and those were only counted because they were found by our vote monitoring system not to be in violation of acceptable voting patterns.

A note to anyone having their votes ignored...

Learn to vote productively, or leave the site. You're wasting your time.

LOL---i wasn't talking about last week's. i was talking about this week's. give me a little credit for the spider----it was a macro, shot in the dark, freehand. i couldn't really get it's face due to the web it was on. i did not want to disturb the poor little guy's home just for a good picture :).

P.S>------because my votes are low does not make me a troll. it's not my fault that i do not find too many of the photos PERSONALLY appealing. PERSONALLY, i thought a lot of them just plain sucked, or were not in the right category for the challenge. seeing as the community here is not as friendly and helpful as i originally thought, this will be my last post/entry. i will stick to the other sites that actually offer me constructive criticism, and do not troll/flame me for stating a point.

You dont think our ideas are interesting or appealing. And you think your stuff is 200% better than ours. What's wrong with this picture?

there are many reasons to have a narrow DOF, even complete out of focus shots. People need to open their minds and observe that there are many ways to taking a photo. just because what they see is not what they expect or dont understand doesnt make the photo bad. i havent participated in the last month. im not sure if i will again.. take a look at my shot. i did this on purpose (obviously). im not saying that these are the greatest shots in the world, im just saying that i did this on purpose:

i had the apeture at 1.2 on an EOS-D30

sorry Scott Loehwing but I can't give you any credit for flaming this forum with your "some people are not smart " attitude. Your spider shot was out of focus, accept it. Learn from it. First you said it was intentionally out of focus, then you said "oh it was dark, freehand, I didn''t want to disturb the liitle guy for a good picturet"

There will always be limitations and criticism.

Go ahead, quit this forum. Too bad it's your last post because I still wanted to hear how your spider wqas photographed in July for a November challenge.

I donĀ“t think you can link to the image at community.webshots.com. You must link to the html-page.

You can't embed the image 'inline' from that web site a they
do not allow such 'deep linking'

The result is, you can only provide us a link to go and look at
the picture (using the little 'world' icon) rather than trying
to drop the picture into the form, using the picture icon or the
[img ] tags. Give us the link and we can see them, but you can't
embed them. Hope that doesn't confuse the issue further :)
