It's been quite sometime since I've entered a challenge or commented on a thread...but looks like something just brought me back...well at least to commenting.

I'm all for this and was for it a long time ago. This is great. It's a better tease to have one open challenge rather than a choice and gives the members more choices. As someone stated before that nothing changed for registered users except now they don't get a choice of challenge topics..if they want to be more involved then they should become members..and it also rewards members. DPC got this one right...

**Edited*** nevermind..if I wasn't so lazy and actually clicked the challenge topic it tells you whether it's open or members challege. DPC got this right again! It's like a tease...a registered user sees a challenge topic they like, click it and see that it's a members challenge....love it.

So the Thursday night at 11pm (my time) is what we will call the Friday challenge?

So one will start Tuesday at 11pm and then thursday at 11pm correct?

No, it's Wednesday 06AM and Friday 06AM, far to early in the morning, who invented the timezones? :)

Yup! Two of the challenges stay the same: if they were sun at 11 and tues at 11, now there's a thurs at 11.

So basically, there's just an additional challenge 48 hours after what used to be the open challenges. :D

You can tell what kind of challenge it is by looking at the color of the user icon to the left of the challenge title -- grey = Open, blue = Member-only.

Thank you! I can't tell you how much I had been wanting to pay for what was already free. Before I had to go to 1x for that, but now I can do that here as well. Awesome.

You haven't lost anything you used to get for free -- registered users still get to enter one Open challenge/week, paid members get to enter that plus at least one more challenge/week.

Well they lost the option of choice. But seriously, its $25 for a year (thats 0.07/day, 0.48/week, 2.08/month) I spend more then that on coke a week, or heck, chips, or coffee, or stupid iPhone games.. well you get the idea :)

Yes, nice to have it free, try it out.. see how you like it, but its not like their asking for $25/month or something

People can also try out the paid level for a month for $5.00.

You know I can hear Two Princes playing in the background as I read your post.

Try what out? More choices? Didn't you just say that was nothing?

Well, I had no part in either making or executing this policy, so I'll try to not take your bellyaching personally ... :-(

I know, but you seem to endorse it along with everyone else. Frankly, I'm amazed by the overall positive reaction to this news. It's as if Langdon announced a new site feature everyone asked for. I guess when you're stuck in a cave for so long seeing a new shadow on the wall is exciting enough.

Who wants to chip in for yanko's membership so he can stir more shit around here? I'm definitely in.

Good idea but we'll have to all go edit our posts where we talked so much shit about him in the member's only forum. :P

I didn't renew because I wasn't getting anything out of my membership. The challenges aren't challenging. The pond has dried up so much that I'm sure gyaban has tried to enter the same challenge twice just so he can give himself a little competition. Now of course I could just ignore that aspect, but with such inspiring themes like Light on White V or Color on Color III running every week why bother? I could try using the Suggestion Forums again, but Langdon seems to have those permanently set to ignore.

The other aspect to membership is the portfolio space, but I can get that for less elsewhere and with far more features. That's the thing. Langdon adds new features about as often as GeneralE skips challenges (no offense Paul). Other than waterboarding what else has he added over the last six years? DPL? No. That was Scott Whiddon's baby, which he took over and now doesn't see the light of day much like my checkbook.

I didn't see yanko's membership anywhere on that list. You suck.

This is awesome news. I found when I don't participate in DPC, I don't pickup my camera for ages... so definitely that extra reward in case I have the time to shoot more than one subject a week.

Now if only I could make my submissions count! :-)

I'm in for the "buy yanko a membership" pot. All sh!t should be very well stirred. And chilled. Or is that martinis? Possibly martians? Senility is actually a whole lotta fun, you know....
