I was really surpirised to see you mention Donna the Buffalo. I have seen them live a couple of times (although it was a few years ago), and really like them.

Something tells me my suggestion to add Tim McGraw, Toby Keith, and Kenny Chesney will fall on deaf ears... ;o) LOL

I love romantic songs by the crooners such as Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Mel Torme, Englebert Humperdinck, and others such as Charles Aznavour, Gilbert Becaud, Joe Dassin, Adamo..... the list goes on.

The list provided by other DPC members is indeed quite impressive and I am certain you will find a great variety of music for your listening pleasure. There was but a scant mention of country style music, which is something you might want to look in.

In essence, there isn't much music I don't like .... (except that noise my daughter plays when she wants to aggravate me) hehehehhe.

Good luck in choosing,,,

Okay:

Pixies
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Barry Adamson
PJ Harvey
Tom Waits
The Black Heart Procession
White Stripes
Grant Lee Buffalo
Air
Psychic TV
Nick Drake
Bruce Springsteen!
The Jesus and Mary Chain
Journey!
Travis
Black Box Recorder
JJ72
Sigur Ros
Violent Femmes
Portishead
Reel Big Fish

It's really ridiculous how long I could make this list...

Okay, a few more:

I've never been huge huge huge on The Pixies but I do like the albums I've got...Frank Black rarely disappoints, but I find that he rarely impresses me too much either. Certainly, everyone should have at least a little bit of Black Francis in the collection...

...oh, and Cowboy Dan is definitely the flagship song of Modest Mouse!

If you like "chick" music, I HIGHLY recommend:
Tori Amos (From the Choirgirl Hotel is a GREAT album)
Ani Difranco
Natalie Merchant
Gwen Stefani

My favorite band of all time is Matchbox Twenty esp their first album Yourself or Someone Like you.

As far as random stuff... I would say:
Daniel Beddingfield (Gottta Get Through This)
Some good 80's music (Dead or Alive ROCKS! lol)
Toad the Wet Sproket
Bush
Blink 182 (esp the Cheshire Cat album!)
Incubus
Janes Addiction
The Cure
Nickleback
Nine Inch Nails
The Deftones
Orgy
No Doubt
Billy Joel
Garth Brooks

Just to name a few. We have over 500 CD's and a huge range from country to Metal.... Pop to Classic and everything in between! :) It's great... we always have a wide variety of things to listen to.

I just got to see the Pixies TWICE in concert here in NYC. It was so fantabulous, I can't even describe it. Actually, one of the bands that opened for them one night was Broken Social Scene, out of Toronto - they're made up of a bunch of different bands, including Godspeed You Black Emporer (which someone else in this thread mentioned).

Anyway, a good album for all MY fave pixies tunes is the Death to the Pixies album. 2 cds of yummy tuneage! The Pixies have always impressed me - and not just Frank Black. The Pixies ain't the Pixies without him, but the same goes for the other members. All their personal projects are good too - The Martinis, The Breeders, The Amps. Oh yeeeah :)

Mindy Smith - One Moment More

My favorite CD of 2004. The voice of an angel, but not quite as good as Alison Krauss.
