Great. Now I can no longer look forward to upward mobility at the last minute. You're a troublemaker for sure. |

99 vote check in: 5.76 with 7 Great comments! |
That didn't come out right, sorry; it's not that I think the entries are crap (I'm quite enjoying them, actually); it's that i suspect the VOTERS will find a lot of them to be unredeemable, blurry messes and there will be a lot of very low scores. But that's just my personal guess, not my personal statement on the quality of the challenge.

We're trying to preserve a measure of anonymity amongst the judges, to speak publicly as a single voice. So we won't be commenting directly on images, or that wasn't the plan anyway. We are discussing images in private messages, and excerpts from that discussion, unattributed, will accompany the awards when that thread is posted. It was done that way in the Best of 2009 judging, and that seemed to work.

Right, I'd be happy for the "collective" comments on my shot to be added at the end of the challenge by a representative judge. I think it's a shame to have you all discuss our entries but not to get the feedback (assuming we don't rate high). I'm all for negative feedback too if that's what comes.
Maybe you could create a user called "Fine Art Judges" to leave the comments? |

Hrmmm, we'll have to think about this. But bear in mind, we're doing this one in real time (the last one was done after voting closed, no time limit).
What we've done is, we've created a short list, these will be the "honorable mentions", where each judge selected x number of images for that list. And the images on the list are the ones we are discussing, and the ones from amongst which the ribbons will be chosen. So the "collective comments" will perforce be restricted to the images that made that final short list.
I see nothing to keep any judge from later going into the total pool and commenting personally on not-listed images, but that comes later... THIS part we have to have finished by close of voting Sunday...

Ok, not there's not much in the judging for us bottom dwellers then :( |

That's only one voter of the likely 200 that will vote on your shot. The judging is a side-challenge thing anyway, nothing to get too worked up about, unless you are into that sort of thing of course. Given we can't opt out of the judging I hope all the judges are going to leave comments on our shots. |
I was just joking. I'm not even worked up a little bit. :)
And please, Bear...no apology is necessary. I was just funning ya. ;)

I also thank you guys for taking time out your busy schedules and doing this for us. Even if we dont get ribbons by you, for someone to appreciate our work and give insight is a good thing for all of us. :)

I'll add my cheers to that.
I always wanted a challenge that was judged by a panel and now we have one. |
