I always wondered what the 3d menu did in photoshop. I guess this is the place to give it a whirl!
denoise
crop
3d render into a sphere in CS4
brightness/contrast
sharpen
resize and save for web

For me its more like beginner editing as this is a great place to try new techniques. I am personally finding it easier to have a crack at new stuff on shots I have no personal attachment to.
Bring on the crazy shite so we can all learn some new stuff from each other |

I never put a ruleset out. Actually, I was just leaving it up to the contributors to pick their favorite. I think that keeps it fair for everybody, especially when we get more people offering up originals. Some people are going to pick basic edits, some are going to pick advanced or expert. Plus, this way, it takes a LOT of pressure off me.
I say bring on the crazy shite.

i was just going from what was said in the original thread. fine with me - i'd love to see more expert editing on the site in general. only bummer for beginners is learning stuff you can't use here.

That's a good point. What I was kinda hoping is that we end up with a wide variety. In putting it in the hands of the people who are contributing originals, Im crossing my fingers that people doing the editing will realize that different people prefer different rulesets. That may be a good reason to keep the posters anonymous in the future, but we'll see how this goes and adapt as we go. So far I'm having a lot of fun and definitely learning a LOT. Thoughts?

There is a certain amount of freedom and inattention to Challenge rules in most of these side-challenges anyway.
I know that in some of my edits I have done things that I could not get away with legitimately use in regular challenges.
For me it is both fun to use the experimental stuff and also see how others handle the same situations.

Underneath each photo, there is an option to 'view full-sized image'. Right click on the and choose 'save image as'. Welcome to the PP side challenge. :D

I think maybe let the rules go out the window then. This is primarily a side challenge for learning, not a competition. Everyone is putting up their PP steps and it is about enjoying the process of editing. Anyone who wants to learn more about how someone has done a certain photo can read the notes and ask more about it. It's not that serious really. Enjoy and learn! |

I agree. That's kind of the direction I was hoping this challenge would go in. I don't think I ever addressed a rule-set, but if I did, I shouldn't have.
Any thoughts, though, on keeping the contributors/judges anonymous starting next week? I think more people will participate if they don't know what the contributor prefers.

I think that's a great idea. Anonymous contributors/judges would be perfect. |

Took a different direction with this. It's late, so I'll have to wait until tomorrow to see if I still like this or not.
