Looks like a good one so far, just glancing through the thumbnails and if the shot is nearly as good a the thumbnail this will be one high scoring challenge! Nice to see some really good work out there!

WOW!!! I hope that is the way it works. If so, maybe I'll have an entry in the next challenge. :)

If you're a member, you can hit the update button and see scores in real time and track your scores. It is soooo addicting, I recommend it :-).

I have 27 votes and 3 comments. Lots of comments for this early. ONe fair, 2 positve, one actually raving praise!

4.22 score.

Confusion. Depression. If I had some developer I might drink it, but having gone digital all I can do is slam my finger in the CD drive.

Ouch.

are you kidding? since when are darts, skydiving, track and field (w/out a baton), boxing, golf, tennis (mostly), skiing, croquet, cycling . . . team sports? i'm a big fan of expanded perspectives regarding the challenge guidelines, but please!?!?!?!? give me a break!

ps - i know some work in 'teams' but you don't hear about the postal team winning the tour de france . . . the winner is lance armstrong (at least recently)

And when they play football, baseball, basketball they always choose "MVP" of the game. You said it yourself, they work in a team and therefore qualify as a team sport.

There are team awards given as well in these sports

You do if you actually watch the race...

I thought I would enter a picture of an Isotopes fan, but I couldn't find one all week.

It looks like the entries cover a wide range of aspects of team sports, from the fans to the playing fields, to the equipment.
As I expected, there are a lot of basketball hoops. (They are SO photogenic!) This challenge generated a lot of thoughtful and interesting images! (I haven't seen a cat or a flower or a bug yet)

Yup, the Posties don't do anything. Chechu doesn't help pace. Georgie isn't one of the best cyclists in the world on the flats. Haras didn't drag Lance up the mountains last year. Nope, no team effort at all there.

Go Postal- watch the 2004 Tour de Lance. :)

not going to get too upset about the team vs non-team aspect of this challenge. it takes a village.

i will say that i have really enjoyed looking through these shots, which may not overall be high scorers, the laugh-out-loud factor is very high for me.

nice imaginative work. now i'm inspired and it's too late!!

Well my LOL entry isn't scoring above mid 5's, so I guess not everyone has a sense of humor like yours :-/

I find it quite amusing that almost every comment I have received has mentioned that I should add something (I can't say what, it will give it away) that is AGAINST BASIC EDITING RULES. My score is suffering due to the lack of whatever it is. Go figure...

Oh well, at least I didn't cheat or even unintentially break the rules, and I know for a fact it meets the challenge. I'm happy with it! :o)

Just because it would be against the rules, doesn't mean it wouldn't make the picture better :)

I have a question. When you submit your image there is a box for you to add comments. Why are these comments not displayed with your picture?

I am new to this site so maybe I'm missing something here. Can someone explain?

I agree, but I couldn't enter it in the challenge if I "make the picture better" as you stated. :o)

If you're getting a lot of queries about the legality of the shot, ask for an admin note. Once validated, you shouldn't get so many comments questioning that...

If you look at other people's submissions, you'll note none of the descriptive text is included -- you're not an exception. The photo and title must stand on their own -- it's a photo contest not an essay contest. I too have fell victim to people's lack of understanding what the photo was about -- some pretty bad scores. I just chalk it up to experience and think, "Next time, I'm going to make it universally obvious!" Not that I achieve that, but hey, I try.

My current submition was acompanied by an explanation about the english tradition [...]. Because my original explanation isn't shown, non english viewers have been confused as to why I chose to take a picture of [...].

I am new to this site so maybe I'm missing something here. Can someone explain?

-Kevin

You're not supposed to discuss your entry during voting, to keep the voting anonymous. That's also the reason why comments are not displayed, it would be too easy for people revealing their identity in the comment, and checking by the site council would be way too complicated.

If your picture needs an explanation, then you should consider whether it is strong enough of and by itself. Remember this is an international forum, so any non-english viewers would not get your point. BTW, even WITH an explanation a lot of voters take only a few seconds to look at a picture, so they might not even read your explanation. :-)

Please edit your original post to remove all references to your submission!! There's a box at the top right of your post to do that.

(You have a creative profile picture!)
