Rob banmorn and I will be coming in on Friday. Check in time at our hotel is 4pm. We may need help with finding a place to stow our bags until we check in. Since there is a 4pm meet up at the park it will be a bit of a problem to carry our luggage and our camera gear all over the place from the early AM (when we hoped to be able to get there) until sometime in the evening. We will see if the hotel will keep our bags until we can check in, but they may not be able to accommodate us at 8 or 9 in the morning. Does anyone know if there are storage lockers at the train station?

usually there is no problem with storing your luggage at the hotel until you check in or after you check out, at least I never had any problems with that, and I travel a lot. you can call the hotel to double-check, but I am pretty positive.

I am still intending to attend. However, Saturday is definitely the better day for me. I did e mail you Steve but don't know if you ever got it. I need to know the exact time to get in on Saturday since I am taking in the train from Connecticut. Where I catch it depends upon how early I have to get to NYC.

Junie - I would recommend going out of New Haven to catch the train. It will provide you the most options for times throughout the weekend and it drops you right into Grand Central.

Thanks, Peter. There was some discussion earlier that they might not get together before 1 on Saturday. So I figured if that is true, maybe I would even start in New London. That is so much closer, plus I have never been on a train before and I thought a longer trip might give me some nice sweeping ocean views. Of course that is limited at night, so it will most likely end up being New Haven, though that place scares me.

Do we have a schedule of events, locations and times to meet yet? I know that this is a huge undertaking so I understand if it's not finalized, but I am trying to determine which is the best day to join the group from Connecticut and if I should take the day off from work on Friday or just come for Saturday. I have toddlers at home so I can't come both days:)

Thanks so much. I can't wait to meet everyone for my first DPC get-together!

Hey Guys, here's the general itinerary...

Central Park - Friday, June 4th at around 3-4PM (meeting place Columbus Circle entrance to the park 59th st.)

Union Square - Saturday, June 5th (Greenwich Village, Walk-Around w/drinks and food in The West Village) meeting time 1:30-2PM (14th Street side of the park)

Brooklyn Bridge/DUMBO - Sunday, June 6th - 12 Noon (Manhattan into Brooklyn)-meeting at City Hall, the foot of the Brooklyn Bridge

When I have a fairly certain idea of how many people will be there on Saturday, I will have location set for food that will accommodate the crowd.

Also, I went to the HCB Exhibit at the MOMA. Inspiring!

Cheers!

Hey Steve:
Just looked up 14th St on my GPS. Coudn't find it near Central Park. Is there something else we can go by for the Saturday meeting day? I know it isn't firmed up yet, but I was curious and had some time. There is a place called Union Square Park, though, that seems to have 14th St pass it.

Central Park is Friday, Union Square and Greenwich Village Saturday, the Park reference in Steve's post is Union Square Park, not Central Park.

I'm planning on driving up early Saturday A.M. Is anyone going to be wandering around before the meetup? How late are we shooting Sunday?

Since I'm making this into a bit of a bigger trip than the NYC GTG, I'm packing my stuff tonight and heading out tomorrow morning to fly to Chicago. I'm quite excited as I pack my lenses and stuff. Look forward to catching you all next weekend!

I've got my bolt bus tickets. I'm arriving at 8:30am. Not sure what I'm going to do with myself, no one has replied to posts for meeting for breakfast or anything, so let me know what time you'll be around.

I made the start time for Sunday 12:00 noon so, people could make it over to B&H in the morning, with ample time to shop and make it over to City Hall for the Bridge walk. I figure... 3-4 hours on Sunday and there's a good train from DUMBO (the F) that goes right through the center of Manhattan to all the Hotel locations etc.

I was also thinking of taking a quick swing through Chinatown before the Bridge/DUMBO part of the walk so, people who can't stay too late will be able to hang in Manhattan and take off before we head into Brooklyn. Sort of like a Part I and then Part II of the day...since Chinatown is very cool to shoot and so close by.

We'll see how that works but the start point and time will be the same. It might accommodate people that wish to leave early, as an easier option.

I'm hoping to make it Saturday. Friday is too unpredictable with work. I could definitely get to the city late morning 10:30ish if someone wants to get a late breakfast. Kelli, I'll send you a PM. Anyone else please free to PM as well. I'd like to checkout the MOMA Cartier exhibit in the morning if there's time.

Hot_Pixel and I will be in the city early morning wandering around. Would be happy to meet up for some shooting and discovering.
