We can probably get to the Charleston, SC area the fastest and it is 5 to 6 hours.

About a half a mile as the crow flies, but I have to travel a mile to cross a bridge.

I live many hours from the ocean but I do have the great lakes surrounding me. It's about a 15 min. drive to Lake Michigan. The Mackinaw Bridge is about a half hour drive. One side of the bridge is Lake Michigan and the other side is Lake Huron. I know it's not quite the same!

This spot is about 20 minutes from my office:

On a few occasions, I've felt very motivated to grab my camera & hit this beach before I get it to the office. The sunrises can be amazing.

14 miles, 'bout 25 min drive up an over the hill to Half Moon Bay. I live in the Bay Area peninsula, so I'm surrounded by water on three sides (ocean, bay, and more bay). I'm only 6 minutes from the bay :)

don't really have too many beach shots uploaded here...yet :)

(this is the bay)

Salmon River, I know where I would be spending my spare time.

Let's see, my home is about 15,000 feet (20 minutes by bicycle) from one of the famous beaches in the United States--Huntington Beach, California (a.k.a. Surf City USA(r))

Only a few minutes driving, but if I want to get to a beach that is actually attractive enough to swim at, it is about an hour or so. Map

If I walk fast 4 minutes. If I ride a bike about 2 minutes by car around 1 min. I can hear it from my back yard at night and when the wind is in the right direction I can also smell the sea air.

I can't wait for the thread "How Close Do You Live To The Mountains?" so we can debate whether it has to be a whole range, or if a single peak or hill will qualify ... perhaps we should have a "Make A Mountain Out Of A Molehill" challenge ... ;-)

We're so lucky :) We have ocean, bay, rivers, lakes, desserts, forests, mountains, valleys, hills, volcanos, snow peaks, etc...all withing a 30 mile radius. Ahhhh :)

*waiting for the jealousy to set in ;)
