Just curious.
Me, as the crow flies, 2.7 km. To drive, maybe 8 minutes.
Edited to add a few ocean shots (although some of these are more than 8 minutes away).

About a third of a mile. Many of my entries are from Red River Beach, my local shingle:
The above are just a sampling. And "my" marsh, the one with the skiff anchored in it, is just a couple miles down the road.

7.5 hours to the Atlantic and around 30 hours to the Pacific. :( |

I don't even have a pond nearby. Except when it rains, then the area around my home fills up with water and turns into a big muddy swamp. |

About two miles from San Francisco Bay, and about 45 minutes (driving) from the Pacific ...
When I visit up in Washington, I'm just a little over 47 steps from Puget Sound (these are all shot from the back porch) ... ;-)

Five minutes is nice. I live in Manhattan (NYC), I *know* there's an ocean nearby, but I almost never see it.

If the Puget Sound counts as ocean, 15 minutes. If not, about 3 hours. |

Well, not an ocean, the north sea is just below me, about 5mintes to walk out my front door, over the promenade and im on the beach :D
