Fitting end to a very lousy week...

long story short Im frozen to the bone now after waiting in the cold for a tow truck in shitty cold, windy with the occasional rain cloud for the last 3 hours after my engine did a big boom and smoke and fire and people panicking what reason I have no idea, it was just fire and smoke.

If you happen along by someone that has smoke coming from the engine and they actually HAVE an extinguisher, BACK THE FRAK OFF AND STAY OUT OF THE WAY!! unless of course you also have an extinguisher. They say there are no stupid questions and that may be the case but after tonight I discovered there are a LOT of inquisitive idiots.

Sorry for the vent...

I never needed to actually own a dog to use that excuse.

Damn boy. Glad you didn't catch on fire too, although you probably were wishing some of the, "Engine problems?" people had.

I hope insurance has you covered. I'm not covered for fire. Maybe I should be.

Thanks buddy,

Yea if looks could kill some of the people for lack of a better term would have burst in to flames. I may have it fixed today :) Ive been working on it all day and looks to be no major damage so far. AFAIK what looks to have happened, when I tried to merge on to the freeway I stepped on it, when that happened the block heater (which I later found out was installed WRONG from the factory) blew out the front of the engine. By the time I got back off the freeway and in to some little strip mall parking lot the car was engulfed in steam. There looks to have been some oil on the manifold that ignited when I opened the hood I'm assuming from the rush of oxygen it got, and the temp on the engine with no coolant increased to dangerous levels.

Anyway most of the stuff on the front of the engine has been replaced including a new block heater. Ill know before long if the operation was a success. Its a serious PITA to get everything back together :(

well back to work...

I'm so sorry for your trouble, damage, and expense (of the car and booze), Dave.

I'm thankful that you're safe, though.

If you moved out here you wouldn't need a block heater :P

Glad to hear it seems to be not toooooo bad and, of course, as long as you weren't hurt everything else is replaceable :)

dude, how much do you charge for mechanic work? I'm tired of paying mine out the nose, and I'd love to get a massive inspection/check out on my vehicle from someone that is more interested in the vehicle than getting paid :D Of course, driving to Calgary to get it looked at would be silly. lol.

I prefer to do as much of my own work as I can, doesnt matter who you are these days the garages and even the dealers try to screw you...

I am so glad I clicked this open. I laughed so hard tears came out of my eyes. Whatever you were drinking, I need some of that. You probably got it from the Crashing Squirrel. But where are the pictures of the inquisitive idiots? [eta] Crashing Squirrel would be a great name for a rock band.
