It's doing better than expected. I got a couple of 8's. I got a comment about it not being like the original. I don't want to go into detail to keep anonymity, but my purpose was to improve the original, not duplicate it. I think for this re-do type challenge we need a rule about consistently identifying the original from the title, not just in the details.

As far as I am aware the whole purpose of this challenge was to improve a brown ribbon winner...not copy it.

I used a title that was close enough to the original that a quick search will find it. Looks liek thelow voters took their toys and went home. Getting some votes in the anticipated range now.

That's just shy of my highest scores! Especially considering the harsh voting going around, that's darn good. Pass a few tips this way please. |

Haha I know it's bad of me to say that, I just really REALLY like my entry. Way more than any of the things I've gotten higher scores on. And in a way I thought DPC would appreciate.

Go. Up. Please.
p.s. I hope that people when voting are paying attention to if the shot is actually based off of a brown ribbon. |

With that score after a reasonable sample of 16 and a favourite already - I can't see you not ribboning. |

Going to start voting and giving comments. I have decided to only vote and give comments on entries that have given an IMAGE ID and/or title so that I can go back and look at the original brown to compare it and base my vote and comment on that. I see many images that I cannot trace back to the original brown and so those I wont give score or comments on. I can only vote if I can compare the image to the brown.
Regards
Fred

Then you may not get 20% since the challenge theme CLEARLY said to put the original # in the description, not the title. |

Yes unfortunately that is so. Bad luck. I found that pretty dumb as well and dont know what good that is. After all I want to be able to compare during voting and not after. So for those that thought a bit further and realized this and put a link to the original in their title it will be beneficial as far as my vote is concerned.
That's what this challenge is all about. Improving on a BROWN. If you cant see the BROWN you cant compare and thus the image is meaningless in that context.

I agree with ThingFish. After carefully reviewing each entry, I found that about 80% provided a convenient way to look up the homage Brown image. That was a lot of fun. Those who missed the technique used in the previous Brown challenge created a great amount of frustration. |
