The real challenge might be to see if Irene can be kept away from the Blue.

The last person I would expect to see making this statement. Not to say that I think you're good, or bad, or anything. :)

Speaking of liquid splashes, this image just got POTD on an Aussie site today. Yahooo!

If anyone watches sports programming in the USA, you might notice that one of Budweiser's new series of ads is based on the "frozen splash" motif.

I think it would be fun, but I'd think it was fun from a geek gadget point of view. I've wanted to build my own laser gate as well as getting a decent buret where I can control the rate of flow. Just never gotten around to doing it and the buret is more expensive than I'd like.

yeah, lets do it and maybe everyone will get it out of their system so these pictures will stop being shoehorned blues and reds that don't really meet the challenge, even though they ARE great pics

I've shot over 200 images, and didn't have a keeper that I was happy with. Who suggested this ridiculous challenge anyway? :)

It wasn't the lighting it was the co-ordination that didn't seem to work. 5D's are great, except for frames per second, particularly when you combine it with really, really bad co-ordination.

Irene your many crowns are safe from me, and I am convinced that you have four arms to accomplish what you do. I couldn't manage one decent shot......not that I've given up....yet, but I'm would like to get just one decent crown for the old portfolio...

Keep trying, Barbara. I took thousands and thousands before I got my first good one... Good luck.
And no. I don't have four arms... at least I didn't the last time I counted ;-))

Oh come on now.....get your mind out of the gutter...I was thinking of dropping a cow into a vat of milk...sheez! LMAO!

a cow making a splash in milk - now this ought to ribbon. it's original at least :)

Just for you:

Actually, it was just for Joe... but that was back in 2006. Now it's just for you ;O)

Irene is extremely talented as well as nice, but this challenge would be an unfair advantage to he rest of us(and I am not complaining here) just saying that Irene should be the only one who gets to vote(i.e. she gets to pic the ribbons)

I tried some drip shots a while back. Oh dear they were awful!!

I would love a nudge to practice doing some more, although think I need more lighting before I try again.

Also how do you not get your camera covered in splashback? Probably a stupid question I know but..

Don't suggest such things! There's still plenty of nudes on the site by excellent photographers far less annoying.
