I don't know how I missed this thread until now, but you're right.

I've been on a short fuse lately myself, and just earlier today I kind of had an epiphany about it.

Being laid off for the winter certainly hasn't helped any, and I guess that's left me in a bit more of a personal turmoil than I realized. I do seem to be jumping negatively at every little chance I get, and I haven't really thought about it.

Too much free time, and not enough self-discipline = grumpiness manifest.

I promise, from here on out, to try and get back the positivity that I had before. Stay out of Rant, ignore the people that are personally bugging me right now, and focus on the Free Study Commenting, and get back into just trying to have fun.

This is my holiday pledge.

Little Billy decided to turn his wagon into a fire truck, so he got some scraps and bits and fixed it all up, then he rounded up his dog and cat to pull it for him.

He harnessed the dog around the neck, and the cat around the balls. When his dad saw this he said, "wouldn't it work better if the rope were around the cat's neck?"

Little Billy said, "Probably, but then I'd lose my siren."

Finally a good use for a cat....runs and hides....:P

Big smiles! That was the funniest thing I've read in a while. He-he. :-D

I think there's something in the water.

Well, maybe not water, but air perhaps. I think there has been some hostillity built up from discussions (arguments) in the political threads that has spilled over, some of it is all the negative news (economy and so forth). Add that to some frustration with products that we were hoping to see and didn't (Speaking of that: Hey, Art can I borrow a torch I've got some talkin' to do to the Pentax people). I think it all just piles up, somewhere its got to burst and sometimes those bursts get targeted at the wrong people.

The anonymity and seclusion of the internet spawns some of it as well. Its alot easier to attack someone or say something in a thread that you would never say to their face.

I have some words for Pentax as well, and none of them good. If I had the means, I'd be switching systems. I don't though. (not to mention my username would be suddenly kind of silly)

Do you really think it would take your switching systems for that to be?

:D

Matt

And I do agree that tensions are high, the tone set to start some of the discussions has been such that it seems to escalate from there. Civil discussions are hard to have this time of year. Even when you try it gets derailed and hostilities break out.

I know I am overly stressed right now and it wouldnt take a whole lot to get me going..........however I am trying to remain civil.

Matt

Thank you again everyone for your input and support.

To K10DGuy, know that I was not referring to you or anyone specifically but I am glad if this thread has helped you or anyone else also.

I have a special request for anyone reading this thread. If at any time, I seem to fly off the handle or lose my cool and you notice it, I would be thankful if you could point it out to me. I know these times of the year are stressful and probably this year more stressful than most for me. I think I am managing it but you never know, and I might not be aware of how I am treating some of you, so also forgive me in advance for that please.

Thanks

Don't worry Toggy, we'll yank on your leash if you start to get out of line ;)

Now, we just need to find leashes for a few of the other folks around here!

(my living will)
Last night, my friend and I were sitting in the living room, and I said to her, "I never want to live in a vegetative state, dependent on some machine and fluids from a bottle. If that ever happens, just pull the plug."

She got up, unplugged the computer, and threw out my wine.

She's such a bitch...

(hope you smiled!)

I am curious, does it always get this tense around here this time of year, or is it more recent, or am I imagining things?
{snip}

Things are tense all over and DPC is a microcosm of "all over." Just try ordering a "grande, single shot, decalf, non-fat, extra hot, no whip, mocha" at your local Starbucks ... then sit back and watch the barista. Tense, I tell ya. Or try shoehorning your SUV into that just-vacated compact parking space at the mall this week. Tense.

This too shall pass.
