This FS entry was at 6.35xx late morning (about 6 hours ago).
The entry I have in the MFS was around 5.4xxx at the same time, and it's now climbed to 5.75xx.
Ho-hum. At this pace they'll both end up settling in at 5.85xx. :-D |

Not too bad, pretty happy with this one, it was at a 6.8 earlier today with 16 votes, so people pretty much crapped on my score from there. I'm not sure why the votes are so low, oh well. Lookin forward to seeing where this turns out.

quilty as charged. How can you vote anyone really low in that challenge. It is the Masters competing. There are going to be some awesome shots. |
This is an attitude I don't understand. I had no problem using my usual voting scale in the Master's Free Study. There were some real half-hearted efforts. |
I quite agree. Voting with the same criteria as any other challenge. Some of the shots are lesser quality than what I expeceted and some are beautiful. |

I THINK I WILL BE LEAVING DP CHALLENGE SOONER THEN I THOUGHT AS I SEE THERE"S A LOT OF B&*%@#-SH%$#T GOING ON HERE. I MEAN....C'MON...SOME PEOPLE ARE OBVIOUSLY VOTING LOW SCORES ON PURPOSE. THIS IS MY BEST ENTRY YET AND ALREADY IT IS SCORING LOWER THEN SOME OF MY EARLIER ENTRIES WHICH WERE OF A LOWER STANDARD.
Incredible how the score just keeps on dropping as time goes by. Why is that? Is my photo slowly deteriorating for some reason? WAY IT"S GOING NOW I'll BE LUCKY TO FINISH OVER 4.000
There are some absolutely stunning entries in this contest. I'll be ever so happy if I score over a 6 in this one.

You need to understand that it's not only you, everybody's score is dropping, or almost. It's a natural process here at DPC. It'll go up by a little I'm sure as the week progresses.
Consider this, if you will. What if there are voters that are voting the images abnormally high from the start and the digression we're seeing is just an adjustment that's totally normal seeing as the rest of us are voting normally. I think that your idea that some people are deliberately down-voting your score can be easily applied to my theory too, can it not? So, in fact your score of 5.5 is what your image should be at and the 6 you had at the get go was not a realistic score as it was an inflated one.

Jan, as I calculated it, you received four 4's, four 5's, and five 6's. That isn't too bad.
The number of votes right now is very low, such that each deviation from the average makes a big swing.
Wait until you have about 100 votes. Then the average will start to mean something. |

Time to step away from the computer for a little while methinks. Put your score on "hide my score" for a couple of days, find some calming pursuits (I like to do logic puzzles), and try to stop taking it so seriously.
There is also another thing to realize. This Free Study is not like most. It is being eclipsed by the Master's, so votes are coming slowly. What this means is that score changes that would have taken place within a few hours (20 votes would usually be had way before the morning after the start of the challenge), are now only trickling in almost a full day after the start of the challenge. This means you're watching a fairly normal score change happen in what would amount to slow-motion.
Instead of: *click update* 6.5, starting strong! *click update* Oh, 5.8 now. *click update* 5.3 (and then watching it fluctuate between 5.5 and 5.2 for the rest of the week).
You now get what you're seeing, the slow drop. From my experience, most scores start higher and then fall down into a general mid-range. However, we don't usually have the non-pleasure of watching almost every single vote drop that score like we do in this weird anomaly.
So like I said. Step back. Turn off the score. Then check it out sometime on Wednesday. Then again on Friday. You'll get a more accurate read that way and won't obsess.

 ThingFish ...And this is no usual Free Study...this is directly competing with two other challenge for voters with the Masters Free Study and the Superpowers Challenge. The number of votes after over 16 hours is extremely small so I don't think there is any easy way to predict with this few votes what scores are going to be.
As others have stated, take a deep breath, relax, have a glass of port, and wait until Wednesday to look at your score again...
Or one of us can send you a PM when we see the number of votes given at around 100... |

:) I'd buy one also!
No comments. 5.2 score and dropping.
Ugh! Maybe there is too much awesomeness this week. Mine looks like chopped liver next to them. It seems like some of the masters entered a few of the challenges. At least it is fun to vote this week! :)

Not always correlated. I tend to vote first, comment on second pass, so you could get a comment from someone who is not actually voting at the time. |
