Oh well.

I understand why you voted for him.

I just don't think that's the way to break away from 2 party rule.

I agree. The problem with voting for any of the 'non-mainstream' candidates is they belong to fringe parties. And they are fringe parties because their beliefs tend to be on either the far left (Nader) or the far right (Barr). In order for a 3rd party to be viable it must appeal to a centrist philosphy. From time to time a 3rd party candidate might become a blip on the radar screen, as Nader did a few years ago, or Perot before him. But, their appeal was short lived (the same can be said for Perots attempt at creating a 3rd party).

The thing is if after this election the Republican party turns even further right (as many experts are predicting) it will definetly open the door for a third party. But, who would be in a postion to lead it?

Comparing various poll results (FWIW... although all of them could be wrong)...

Candidate-> (McCain) (Obama)

Ipsos (43%) (48%)
Wash.Post. (43%) (54%)
Rasmussen (46%) (52%)
Gallup (40%) (53%)

Well Karl Rove is predicting an Obama landslide with McCain maybe being able to win just one of the various states that are really in play.

You may be in trouble, since Al Qaeda endorsed McCain.

The only real positive to a McCain/Palin win would be the years worth of laughs about Palin's idiocy that'll follow.

If people want a good statistical look at things before the results start coming in...//www.fivethirtyeight.com/ They give McCain a 1.9% chance of winning...

That's assuming McCain doesn't keel over and Palin gets her mitts on the launch codes.

I can hear her cackle now..."Where's Russia now? Mr. Pooh-tin..."

Actually, I suspect the first missile would be aimed at the CKOI radio station in Montreal. Palin can't be too happy with them for prank calling her as French president Sarkozy and broadcasting the results.

ETA: I should mention that, while I'm not a Palin fan, I thought she handled that awkward situation very well and it only reflects badly on her handlers for taking the call in the first place.

Exit polls show that 50% of voters feel that Obama has enough experience to be lead the country. What's interesting is that McCain, a 72 year old politician with 26 years in the senate, didn't do much better at 60%. Yeah, call us when you get a little more experience under yer belt, ya rookie!

I voted.
11/04/2008 06:52:34 PM · #925
I voted for the first time in 12 years. Got up early and was through in 10 minutes.

Kentucky is one of the few states that doesn't allow early voting unless you have a really good excuse. We are also the one state to close at 6. Just FYI...

Only good thing about this is we start getting results in early and the liquor store opens up early.

ETA 9% of Kentucky recorded. McCain 50% Obama 49%
