Today I was looking through my portfolio and noticing that I have taken a lot of pictures of Sofia ( ScooterMcNutty) for challenges and portfolio shots:

Do you have a favorite subject? Something or someone you love to shoot? Or just seem to do better with?

For me it is without a doubt - abandoned places. I love old buildings and other such places. I search them out where ever I go.

and about a hundred more.

Dogs and horses. Wish I could not do insects and flowers, but they do find their way to the front of my lens. Wish I could do the dogs and horses better. Really wish I could do people. Any way at all.

I've become a real fan of liquids, which feels like a deep dark confession here on DPC. Stop motion has always looked like fun and IreneM's shots have been very inspirational to me since I joined DPC.

For me it has to be marine mammals and sea birds of all kinds

Both of your favorite subjects escape me at present. I haven't gotten up the courage to subject any of my relatives & neighbors to being my test models but that may change as my niece wants me to try my hand at some fun senior picture shots (then I'll send her to a pro).

Architecture shots in general are something I could get into. It sounds like a good excuse to go exploring.

totaldis, I prefer these socio-pics of yours:

especially this one:

Simpsons are the epitome of sociological experimentation. :P

If I had to pick only one subject to shoot for the rest of my life it would probably be wildlife, I enjoy the challenge of not only getting the technicals correct but trying to get an artistic shot with an unpredictable subject...

But I also really enjoy using my girls as models also, they love to ham it up!

BTW...sorry to go OT for a minute but smardaz, I'm just curious, was this picture taken at the Cliff House on Brown's Point?

Lifelong Washingtonian myself, the interior looks familiar...

It's got to be tigers for me, although I've yet to get a really interesting shot of one. Simply standing there, waiting for the shot, can be incredibly relaxing and just watching them is quite a privilege.

I love to shoot people and animals, though I have no models handy of either species.

I shoot what's around me, so in a word "urban." First it was acrchitecture -- abstract architecture. I love symmetry and geometry and patterns and try to capture those in my architecture shots without contextual distractions.

Alas, there are only so many buildings to shoot where I live, so lately I've gotten into candid street photography.

And sometimes I just do weird stuff.
