Another day of experimenting with water drops. The advice from jdannels to check out this tutorial helped tremendously. I just bought my SB-600 a week ago and didn't realize the power is controled by the length of the flash, so lower flash power becomes tantemount to faster shutter speed. That's among the more useful DPC lessons I've learned so far.

The background is one of Escher's symmetry drawings.

Here's a close up of the drop.

I love these water drop over background shots. I'd love to try them, but I don't have any partial flash equipment other than the on-camera one. A drop sensor trigger is really helpful here also. I love both shots. Maybe something in between the two would be best. I'm seeing a lot of good challenge contenders in this side challenge.

The water is in a shallow glass plate that is on top of the backgrounds (being very careful not to spill on my Escher book or music). Also, I had to put a dark cloth behind the plate to remove unwanted reflections.

I really like this - nice colors and crystal clear on the water drop.

You are becoming such a pro. I love the bright colors in this one. The square crop is nice but I like this composition the best.

Absolutely phenomenal! I was planning to spend some time trying this out for the first time and that tutorial has given me a great place to start. This is a ribbon winner!
