me and my little model again, i had her sit in a chair and flip her head up in the air about 20 times until i got a shot i thought i could work with.
personally i love this shot but i can see at least 5 things off the top of my head that will probably kill it. especially in a free study, but still i hope this is a shot people will rate based on their gut reaction to the imagery presented. we'll see......predicting a 5.3

Reminds me of a commercial in a way. I like the lighting and the feeling of motion. I think the only thing that gets me is that white stripe in the background.

I gave this a 7 but I do agree with the comments made so far. If the face wasn't blown out I would have given this a 10.

Wow, you were dead on with your prediction. That's quite amazing... maybe next time I'll just send you what I think I should submit and you tell me your prediction.

A 6 from me. She reminds me of a human version of a dream catcher. There's nothing I can say that hasn't already been said except for maybe that I shoulda given this a 7.

It's very arty, Jason - and you know how arty shots do here. I didn't vote, but I would have given it a 6 - not more because I'm a noise hater. But that's just a personal preference. I love her serene look and the high light on the face, as well as the whole composition.

I gave this a 5. I really like the pose and feeling but hated the blown face. Noise I am so-so about.

There is something about this photo that made me think of a romantisised idea of drowning - of slowly sinking to the depths. Obviously the hair adds to this feel, but also the grainy, mottled background (which i thought fine, by the way). For me the brightness of the face was just a little too much, and I found the horizontal line at neck level very distracting. Nonetheless, this photo elicited a strong emotional reaction in me which is good.

I do like this,
I like the expression on her face. A certain peace to it. And confidence.
Her hair seems to flow upwards Without having been flung there.
Like it was willed there. Or divine intervention. Hence the glow to her face.
The lines on the black-board I find a little distracting
Maybe a darker background would show off her face more
I do like the brightness of the face
Leaves me wondering what she may be looking at.

It's a nice image overall, but for DPC standards, the focus is too soft besides the blown out highlights in the face.

You hit your prediction dead on - that's pretty impressive! In the FWIW department, I gave you a 7, and lingered on this shot for awhile. I do quite clearly remember it - which is a very good sign in my book. I don't mind the blown face at all - it works for me, but I'm not the norm when it comes to "blown". The grainy-ish background isn't grainy enough to be grainy, if you know what I mean. I think it's a very good shot (love the wisps of hair everywhere!) and the only thing I'd change if possible would be the background.

I would like to see a littler sharper detail with the hair.
