Well I'm still on the lower end of the 4s spectrum but at least my abstract is doing a Hell of a lot better than my next challenge entry will. I may not have an ideal average but at least people seem to see my photo as being abstract. Oddly though, I've only had 2 votes in over 15 hours.
Some kind person just gave me a 5, I think :)

I'm entered in the roads challenge, but I started voting this one yesterday. Some fascinating shots. I did leave a few comments about the object being recognizable, but that doesn't mean it's not an abstract. It only means that it's fun to try and identify the item. On many of them, I have just NO clue what they are.

Score continues to swing rather widely. I have now voted on 100% and commented on 20% of the entries, including all images at the higher and lower end of my subjective scale. Commenting for this one takes more creative thought than many other challenges. Technical and compositional aspects take more time because abstraction can result in unexpected creative choices (that sometimes are difficult to distinguish from chance happenings). It is hard work doing all this self-examination to better understand my thoughts and feelings in order to communicate constructively. But it sure makes me pay attention to more details than I did during voting. Would love to get to every image, but that is unlikely because there are so many. |

 bob350, I am one of the 20% that you have commented on. Thank you a very good critique. I actually went back at done what you said in Photoshop and your comment was right on the money. Doing what you said looked better to me than my entry.

Funnily enough I've received several new comments, just not on my abstract. Some people have kindly been stepping up to give me critique and advice on my other 2 photos; so maybe I'll hear what people think of my abstract when voting is over hehe.

Didn't enter but did vote...quite a few I liked very much, including 18 that I gave 9s or 10s....
But, the average score given was only 5.7 because it seemed many were merely macros and not abstract shots... |

I'm sure there are a couple of sevens and high sixes out there, but for the most part it seems this is a very low scoring challenge. It will be interesting to see what the top three scores are. Here is mine.

I gave out three 10s, quite a lot of 9s and 8s too. I know which 3 I want in the top slots and I'm pretty sure 2 of them will make it there. For the most part I was really impressed with the entries.
