I'll ASSUME that is a compliment since I AM a REDHEAD and FEISTY is a WONDERFUL thing as far as redheads are concerned :P Otherwise I would have to guess that's a personal attack which I thought was against the rules of DPC :) so i'll take it in good nature :) and say YES i am a fiesty redhead -and my comment meter still rests at 0 and my votes are now at 101 -- my score is now X.4554

X being under a 6 and above a 1 :) :-D when I get to 200 votes i'll share what the X is with everyone but in the meantime since its still only an X it's nowhere near a concern for anyone :P so lets see more scores! who has the most comments? I still have 0 comments :(

Each individual determines whether or not an image meets the challenge, and you WILL NOT get a high average score unless most voters agree that your entry fits the topic (a lesson I've learned the hard way). A few people voting DNMC entries "high" will not offset those who slap a 1 on it enough to ribbon, and there are plenty of beautiful photos that don't reach 6 for this reason. If everyone had exactly the same concept of what does and doesn't fit the topics, then there would be a heck of a lot more scores above 8 and below 3.

If your entry gets a bunch of DNMC votes/comments, then you have failed to communicate the topic to many voters. Conversely, if you think a ribbon winner didn't meet the challenge, then you have not interpreted the topic as most of the voters did. The ONLY exceptions are technical challenges where the voters can't "know" if the challenge was met (2 Seconds, 4-5 am, etc.) and of course the DNMC challenge. ;-)

It takes a 2.00 to bring a 10.00 down to 6.00.

According to you, a 6.000 average only deserves 6.0 votes.

What a bizarre statement. You seem to be assuming that every image starts at 10 and has points deducted. Huh? I suspect most voters start at an average score for meeting the challenge and move up or down from there based on the technicals and concept. With a 100 votes, 6.24 represents a photo well above average by DPC standards, and people might justifiably wonder why someone found it deserving of such a low score.

Incorrect as previously stated. A score does not necessarily indicate adherence to the theme. But again, that's common sense.

No, I assumed nothing of the sort -- except now that you cannot do basic math.

The guy with a 6 average was complaining about a 2.0 rating and that a 6 average should never get a 2. I simply pointed out the fact that a 2 from a voter brings another voters 10 down to a six. Just like a 3 averages a 9 to a 6, a 4 averages an 8, a 5 averages a 7 and so on.

His 6.0 is an average which means some votes were higher than 6 and some were lower than a six. They all average out.

Clear now?

I'm in on that request - can we just have a thread for debates during challenges from now on? IE: "CONTRAST DEBATES" "____(enter challenge name here)____ DEBATES" and leave the score thread alone as the score thread?

BTW my most recient vote was a 6 if this whole sheet thing works a few before that I got an 8 and mixed in i've gotten some 4's and 3's go figure = opinions still vary nothing has changed :P

MY SCORE:
X.4519

(i'm trying that sheet business out for the first time and its interesting to see the variety of opinions when i'm still getting no comments!)

I'm getting really bored with my profile page. My highest rated photos haven't changed in a year. I need a score of 6.3 to get a new pic up there and currently have:

C'mon folks, help me out here. Surely there's gotta be a few of you out there prepared to give my current entry a 7? Pretty please. :)
