I once stood in 3 inches of water... does that count? ;)

I once walked up a mountain for 5 hours dodging snakes along the way!

I was outside once taking pictures and a snowflake hit me. I ran for cover.

I wouldn't have the guts to attach my camera to the car as shown in the Watch out!!! Tutorial

Pales in comparison to the guy in the OP, but I did do a bit of leaning over the ledge for this shot...

Sadly, it's not even a good shot. ;)

Floated on the middle of a lake on a couple of square feet of plastic boxes, tied together with string, with a brand new, not quite insured Canon 1dII. The proto-raft sank about 30 minutes after I got off it, because a thunderstorm started blowing the place apart.

Picture was good.

That original shot is a tromp l'oeil though. It looks like there's a huge drop, but it is all about the angle. I've seen quite a few shots of that location from different angles.

Actually coming to think about it... i did do something a little reckless:

cant say I have done anything like that. My craziest has got to be some of the riots and criminal cases I have photographed. Being yelled at, spit at, threatened, having stuff thrown at you, etc just because you are photographing is kinda creepy

It's been about a year and a half since this surfaced the first time (that I know of - as Karen linked to above)...why is it being treated in the linked article as NEW news?

Does anyone know when this originally took place?

ETA - Leave it to mk to get the scoop. Following quote from the forum thread linked above.

I don't know, but it's not quite real. The gap he is jumping over is only about a 10 foot drop. What looks like the "second" rock is actually connected to the main rock below. It was still pretty stupid, but not as life-threatening as it looks from the cropped photos.

Once studied the routes of guards for half an hour to determine the right timing to quickly sneak behind a fence. There wasn't enough time to get in, take the picture and get out again. So I had to stay in there while a guard passed. It all worked out well, but it was an adrenaline rush!

Yep. The "follow up reading" link I quoted has photos of the location from another angle that shows the whole story.

Jogged up and down a railroad track for 1.5 hours in a freezing mist..... and it wasn't even my shot.

Being overly excited about shooting a wild Grizzly and ended up shooting this one at about 100mm I think, lets say if it charged I prob wouldn't have made it to the car before it got me lol

Then theres this shot where here Im contemplating if I can safely ( and I use that term loosely ) straddle that gap to shoot down in to the crevasse of the waterfall which I did manage to get but dont have it here lol, mite try to find it and post later.

same Fall just different angle, above pic is taken just to the right of the gap in this one.

Same Fall again but take from vantage point in first waterfall photo during run off season so most of the rock around is under 6" to 12" of fast moving glacial run off water.

100mm is pretty close -- I'm surprised you got such a wide field of view with a macro lens ... ;-)

If it had charged you, it might not have mattered if you'd gotten into the car ... :-(

Back in my film days, I got assigned to shoot a bicycle race in that was on a mountainous California road. The lead guide vehicle was a motorcycle. After talking to the guy riding the motorcycle, he agreed to let me sit behind him facing backwards while he paced the fast riders so I could shoot from that vantage point. Changing lenses in that situation was interesting too.
