Okay......dumb question.....
I have noticed changes in my, uh.......innards since I stopped eating junk food, fried food, and pretty much anything that's bad for me.
I definitely feel "cleaner" as far as, uh....emissions, and things have decidedly changed.
If I'm not eating fatty foods, and starches, virtually at all, do I need "cleansed"? |
I believe, as your stomach gets smaller...but the foods stay as fatty/rich...you stomach can't handle it. More of those fats/sugars get pushed down the pipeway, as it were, instead of being digested. Most people that have gastic bypass experience this, but generally 10 fold, since their stomach was made so much small in such a short period of time. |

The lemonade "cleanse" is done for 10-14 days and can be done for up to thirty safely. NO solid food (it gets kind of boring, but you aren't hungry). Believe it or not...you drink a sea salt solution in the eves to ensure that the yucky stuff is leaving the bod. (Not necessarily solids, but caustic stuff it drew out.) I've got a book somewhere I can share is you'd like. If my husband can do...ANYONE can do it. He's such a baby and won't do anything too difficult when it comes to this kind of stuff, lol. They say this cleanse should be done in the spring and again in the fall. :) |

Ok ummmm seeing that I started the whole cleansing thing...no, don't think you're supposed to do ONLY the cleanse, it's meant to be taken I believe 1-2x a day...and if you already feel 'cleaner' and notice a favourable change in your...stools, let's stick with that word...you're probably on the right track.
I remember an apocryphal story told by a relative last year when he was arguing in favour of vegetarianism. Some couple hundred years ago some supposed ancestor of ours was in Africa and noticed that the white European men, who ate meat-heavy diets and very little veg/fibre, had stools that he called 'black sinkers'. They also tended to die of stomach cancer. The locals ate vegetables and fibre-rich diets, relatively little meat, and he termed their stools 'brown floaters'. And they had no stomach cancer whatsoever.
So there is no moral to this story I guess, just a guideline...I am by no means a nutritionist!!! |

I once read that a general rule of thumb is that if your poop floats, you are eating enough fiber. . . . |

I'm sorry...I didn't read the post above and read this one first. I'll quit laughing soon! Not to say it not true but popping into this thread and reading this one liner cracked me up. :)

Oh you want a cleaning! A friend of mine told me to take a table spoon of Epson Salt and mix it with 8 oz. of water. Hold nose and drink straight without stopping. I did and in less than 10 minutes I was visiting the bathroom. Spent most of that evening in there!
WARNING: This is not for the faint of heart and recommend you ask your doctor if it ok for you. Especially if you have digestive complication.

Not a great loss in weight but four less pounds is a step in the right direction. Currently at 232 lbs and hoping for some more loss.

Ray- I don't have you down on the chart, did I miss your post?
Are you saying you have lost 4 lbs total since 5/2?
or is that for this week? If so how much the first week?
That way I can put your progress in the chart
Thanks,
Scott |

I'm 52 years old, have changed my diet radically, and the results have been very dramatic by using good common sense, a careful eating & exercise plan, and changing my behavior.
I'm going to take a pass on this as 10-14 days with no nutritional value whatsoever cannot possibly be a good thing for me.......especially with the exercie I'm doing.
I would imagine that this would be a pretty serious shock to my system.

I have to agree with you. There are no short cuts in weight loss. I have found this out over the years that I have been overweight and that's why I have not lost any and actually gained in the process.
The hardest thing right now is the liquid calories that has no nutritional value at all (soda, sweet tea, etc) but I'm getting better and drinking more water. I have found that if I take a cold bottle water and put ice inside the bottle I enjoy the taste. |

I think it has more to do with the Maple syrup than anything else with the minerals and nutrition. Here is a qoute:
The maple syrup has a large variety of minerals and vitamins. Naturally the mineral and vitamin content will vary according to the area where the trees grow and the mineral content of the soil. These are the minerals found in the average samples or pure maple syrup: Sodium, Potassium, Calcium, Magnesium, Manganese, Iron, Copper, Phosphorus, Sulfur, and Silicon. Vitamin A, B1, B2, B6, C, and Pantothenic Acid (B5) are also present in the syrup. Information on the need and effect of these properties can be found in my book, "Healing for the Age of Enlightenment". Look for the organic brands or 100% pure grades at health food stores. As when we are cleansing we want to use chemical and pesticide free ingredients.
and here is a website from some lass that has actually done it, it is kinda an interesting read too:::

Umm.....
Are you actually thinking on any level that this will inspire people to try this?
I'm now SURE that I won't!
I have a life, a job, and a family......I cannot afford to be miserable and no more than 25 feet from a toilet at all times.
Oh.....and I HATE maple syrup!

Just throwing the idea out there that many doctors don't believe colonics and cleansing do anything for you, and are "folk medicine". Colonics and cancer. |

Try this website. In addition to diets, there's information on exercising and other ways to gain weight. |

I understand that doughnuts are the favoured way for the Hollywood types to pack on extra weight. Unless you're doing something ala Hillary Swank for that Million Dollar Baby role, in which case you eat tons of protein and work out a lot. |

It goes both ways.
Diet and exercise.
You can't just live on pizza and beer and lay on the couch. (Sorry, Slippy!) That kind of weight gain is simply not healthy.
You should research what you need in the way of a balanced diet to increase your caloric intake in a healthy manner. and an exercise regimen that builds muscle.
Muscle quite simply weighs more than fat, but you have to feed the burn, too.
That also makes me feel better to tell you that you have to work at it when you're coming into this thread asking to gain weight, you rat!......8>)
That'll keep him busy, right people?
