Hmmm ... I just had occasion to post this oldie in another thread, but in addition to being punny, it really was intended as a "food" shot, albeit with a limited range of publications in which it could be printed ... ;-)

I was going for a natural sepia-type look to work with the chocolate.

This is a cheat because I was so crazed today that I couldn't take a single photo. Comments will follow tomorrow.

Awesome stuff here!

I thought the pun was going to be "Chocolate Button" until I was the title ;-)

This is how to light food or at least, what I try to achieve.

[thumb]665677[/thumb]
Create a window with whatever light you have. Back a bit and from the side or a little further from behind but not directly behind depending in the height of the item(s). Use mirrors, reflectors...aluminum foil on some cardboard or a simple bounce card to throw some light back on the shadows. That's it and honestly not too complicated.

When I bought some lights last year at B&H I asked the salesman for a pointer (they're experts, right?) and the guy said twice "create a window...(shrugged his shoulders and shook his head, as if to say "it's easy" and repeated..."create a window".

Natural light with a piece of loose-leaf paper throwing some light down from the right, to the front of the tarte.

Morning everyone...set this up out on my driveway. Doesn't look like Vermeer, but it is natural light!

Caramel Popcorn for day 4, this has become a tradition that people leave with a tin of this when they come over for special occasions.

I hit the really great Tacqueria in Spanish Harlem last month and that first pic in the linked article reminded me to post it. Best I've ever had in the city.

eta-I decided that the Taco image stunk.

This is how I do my lighting. I have only one window in my kitchen, it's above my counter top and doesn't let a lot of light in. Looking out the window, it's about 2 inches from the ground. I had not tried bouncing light back onto the food though, so I'm going to give that a try on my next photo :).

Thanks for sharing this!

Your light looks good but a little hot in a few of the pictures. Can you move your food a little further from the direct glare and lower your shutter-speed?

If possible try this...

You're at 6:00 and your food is on the nose of the clock. Arrange it so the light source is coming from 1:00-2:00 or 10:00-11:00.

Day 5 - When it rains I bake cookies for my boys...so today it's Chocolate Chip.

And I adjusted my WB to tungsten while shooting in the kitchen....better?

Ok, not a lot of time for photo's, so I grabbed one of my snack.

Tried playing around with lighting on this one too.

I haven't figured out how to comment on your shots.
I thought I would leave a note here that I love your shots.
The caramels and the rainy orange is fantastic!

Thanks Teresa...I have these uploaded to my Photozo account...well, mainly cause I don't want to change my profile page! (I know it's silly ;). Anyway, these have been shot for my Food Photography class...I've been learning a lot. You'll be seeing three more this week, they are due on Sunday. Thanks again, Terri
