I like the idea of critical feedback for a week. Are you suggesting something along the lines of whatever everybody posts for Week XX? Or what gets posted this week? Or the comments left this week?
However, I still don't see an issue with any praise either, if it's warranted. |

By the way, thanks for including details on some of these - you're giving me ideas of things I'd like to try! |

I try to give a balanced comment on all photos where I can and to date no scathing pm's lol.
Am falling behind a bit again as I wasn't well toward the end of last week and currently in the middle of some serious spring cleaning - will be back commenting soon. |

There are some technical notes on this one! |

I was thinking a week in the near future (not the current one). Also, the only reason I suggested critical only, was so that we all would receive critical comments that week, and no one would feel singled out. But I am open to alternatives (or not doing this at all if folks aren't into it).

Just a suggestion... pick the week starting Thursday. I believe it's Week 11 - somebody correct me if I'm wrong. Any picture labeled "week 11" is subject to these critical comments. If somebody doesn't want the critical comments they can double post a different week or skip it. Since we're all on a different posting schedule this would make it clear. I think.

This is Bud's ( aguapreta) forum, so he can make the call on whether to proceed with this or not, and when. Either way is ok with me.

Sherwin,
Thanks for deferring to me. Really, I am glad to go along with what every is helping everyone improve their images and specifically B&W, in this case.
So, from me, it is a thumb's up.
One catch is that I know some people that post here will not read this and so will be unaware of what is happening. I am not sure what the best way is to deal with that. Ideas?

Don't mind critical comments at all. I'm not sure how far I trust my own critical acumen, but I do think if I can make a helpful suggestion I will. If my initial reaction is not to like something, or to feel that it does not appeal in any way, I don't feel I have much to offer. Willing to abide by group decision though.
Also having trouble keeping up with commenting. Used to be on page 3, now I'm on page 4! In order to feel better I would like to know the awesome number of people posting in this challenge. |

Week 10
I have tried to comment on at least 1 image from everyone posting here. Sorry if I've missed anybody. Will have another go tonight when I get back from work. |

I love the idea of a critical commenting week, actually I would like to encourage anyone and everyone to be as critical as you want on anything I post. I am terrible about making critical comments myself because it is so much easier to just say "wow I like this and that....) rather than "wow I really don't like this and that". I would also like to say that my entries have really gotten some great comments and a big thanks to everyone who has left them. Please also accept my apologies for not commenting as much as I would like.
So..from now on any photo of mine please consider it a week 11 critical comment photo :)

Hey, that could be me. Not sure about only critical. In my opinion every photo has something good and bad in it. Think it's good to mention both. There's no such thing as pure B&W (or "good or bad"), there's always (ok, most of the time) a lot of gray in it. But I admit, you'll learn a lot more from the critical notes. |

I totally agree with this and I plan on mentioning the good along with the bad with no reservations...I think the idea is to not just say "I love this and that about the shot" and leave it at that. Continue on with the critique and include some things that you don't like. In my own critiques that aspect is lacking I'm afraid. I find myself only mentioning what I like about the photo.

Awesome side challenge - just renewed my membership this month - is there any way I could pop in on this one? 10 weeks late but could definitely catch up with comments & some photos. After a long, cold winter, looking for inspiration to pick up my camera again. |

I had a few minutes to rework my week 9 shot today based on all the great comments that I received when I posted it. I just wanted to show it here...I don't expect you to comment.

After a few weeks of near total photography disinterest (thank you ugly PA winter) I finally went out and got some shots. I missed a couple weeks in here somewhere. So I'm tossing two in here. One from a couple weeks ago and one from today.
