I had created this shot for the Textures II challenge but decided on another entry (unrelated to this).
Would you consider this in bad taste or powerful/emotive.

Personally. I love shots like this because they don't hide emotion by any means. They are powerful, emotive, and not an "all-buttered-up-fluffly-everyone-is-happy" sort of shot. Of all the shots I have seen on this site, I have only seen one way over the top shot. No really, this shot is very nice shot, I would have probably given it a 7 or so. I love the lighting in this shot, though I would either make the shadow not visible or visible enough to make it part of the shot. In this shot, it is in-between. Great shot overall! ;)
Wow, I said shot a lot in there. Sorry. :)

No, this is what art is.
If you would like a comment on the photo, I would take a paintbrush in photoshop (or whatever you use) and make the background a good clean black, this will also get rid of the slight shadow you can see. Otherwise I nice shot.

Bad taste would have been to leave the cat in the picture. ;)
I like your photo, but it doesn't make me feel any emotions. |

casualguy,
this is a great photograph. you can find more "offensive" imagery than this in a typical saturday morning cartoon or primetime drama. this image is actually quite sublime.
i hope you don't mind, but i took the liberty of doing a slight touch up of this image in photoshop. have a look at this version and tell me what you think. the details of what i did, which was very little, are listed with this image in the description.

I would have loved to have seen a head in there.
Added texture. Even compare the texture of the human hair, to the hairs the rope is made of. |

Darcy,
Love what you did with it. For a not-so-experienced Photo Shop user, could you tell me what you did here?
Thanks!

I think you should not be shy to send somthing in which might shock people a bit (thats what art has done at al times). Of course we have to have some limits but this picture is far from crossing that limit. |

I wouldn't have scored it highly, it's a just a rehash of what's been entered for other challenges. It is neither a powerful image or in bad taste, if your idea was to shock you would have failed. |

i agree with rob... i don't it find interesting at all and for this challenge in particular simply because there was a great number of rope pictures entered in the first "texture"... but there seem to be quite a few people that like it - good for you... |
