Got mine Monday and finally got around to getting a shot of them to put up. I picked these just to test their printing on canvas to see the difference between how a high detail color shot and a low dynamic range b/w shot would look.

Thanks for the tip Billy

I didn't add a border. I sized the picture to accommodate the wrap but then gave them the choice on how to do it. It all depends on if you want the picture to be part of the sides (better if you are going to hang it bare IMO) or if you are going to frame it (border would be fine then I would think.

There's something in the terms of agreement on the CanvasOnDemand site that indicate that you must own the copyright of the image being printed.

Just a heads up in case you don't own the copyright or have permission from the pro to obtain a reprint in this way.

Otherwise, wonderful photo which should look very good on canvas.

Yep...we have full rights to do what we want with the files we received on DVD. Good head's up, though.

Thanks for replying. Did it not skew the image since it's not proportionate to just add 3.25 inches to both width and height?

I was going to have them just add a black border for me, then decided I wanted to make sure that it came out right so added the 3.25" black border to my image.
Just got it today! Looks great...and is HUGE!!!

I ordered mine as well, but got a smaller canvas framed. Fedex is bringing it tomorrow!

Sorry for the delay in my response. I was wrong about having resized to accomodade the wrap. I went back and looked at the files I sent them. They were sized to exactly 12 x 18 and that is the size of the frame they stretched them over. I'm not sure how they did it but they made the wrap work. They must have added to the edges of the photo because it wraps but it also shows the entire photo on the main surface as I sent it.

Go figure.

Just signed up - hopefully will be approved.
Anyone have any suggestions which photo in my profile I should use? I don't know how to decide which one...lol!

Everybody - I swear this thread makes me happier every time I read it! Seeing each of you create these wonderful works, and then enjoying the results. I do have to ask though... has this HELPED anyone to believe in their own abilities? We're all our 'own worst critic', and this very large (for me) canvas REALLY helped me to get over that. Tell us your thoughts!

Katherine - After hearing this question (alot!), the best answer I've found is to go with YOUR absolutely favorite image - especially if it's emotionally important to you (family member / loved one, etc.) If it is something you want to use for self-promotion, then go with your most dramatic or powerful images. Ok, enough talking... I'll try to just pick a couple:

(gorgeous)

Anyone else care to help Katherine decide?

Has anyone figured out how to use the $25 coupon code against the Pro prices? Or is it only good against their normal customer price schedule?

ArpeggioAngel I am with RossBilly this one is gorgeous and I am sure the canvas would do it justice.

I just saw this and thought I'd throw my experience into the mix in case it helps anyone.

Say I want to get a 16x24 museum gallery wrap (with the image wrapping around). They state in their instructions that "Your file needs to be 3.25 inches larger in both dimensions than the size of the face of the canvas." So, for a 16x24, the image really needs to be 19.25x27.25. As dudephil pointed out, this would change the aspect ratio if you were to just upsize an existing 16x24 image.

To solve this dilemma, I started with a fully processed, uncropped version of the image I wanted to use. I then selected the Rectangular Marquee Tool, set the Style to Fixed Aspect Ratio, set the Width to 27.25, and set the Height to 19.25. I selected the portion of the image that I wanted and selected Image|Crop. I then selected Image|Image Size. In the Document Size section, I set the Width to 27.25 (which set the Width automatically - Constrain Proportions is checked) and the Resolution to 150 dots/inch.

With the images I chose, I only needed a tiny bit of upsizing so I wasn't too worried about losing quality upsizing in this manner. If you need to upsize a lot, you might want to use rossbilly's wizard method.

At this point, the image is the exact right size for a museum gallery wrap and is ready to be saved and uploaded. Of course, it's not obvious which parts of the image will be wrapped and which part will be the face of the canvas!

To quickly and easily see which part is which, you can use guides. First, make sure the rulers are visible (Ctrl+R). Then, click and drag from the ruler onto the image. This will leave a guide line behind. Place 4 guide lines on the image (each 1 5/8th inches from an edge). Bingo! You can now see which parts of the image will be wrapped.

example:

Wow, that ended up rather wordy! If you made it this far, I hope all of that was helpful!

In addition to Sarah's and RossBilly's suggestions....

If you want a big 16x24 canvas choose a shot which has as much as detail as possible. I got my canvas and was pleased. I should've tweaked the darkness of the clouds as the shot looks a little empty at that big a size and turned out a bit brighter than I expected but still very nice.

From your portfolio:

These two would look great

And this one is a stunner. If you can get a little more detail out of it, it'll be wonderfull

If you want something more sentimental to you, how about this shot in color?

Tim, I can only guess that it goes in the same coupon/discount box we used for the free print -BUT- I haven't tried it yet. When you use it, could you let us know?

(OOH! Its about time for BBQing - nice & cool... you gonna do any ribs soon?! )

sheesh - now I have to go force down some cafeteria food instead :(

I tried to use it but it rejected it saying the code is not valid. I'm guessing it's only for normal pricing.

I tried pasting the number in but when I hit enter it gave me an error - invalid or expired coupon code. So I was figuring that i couldnt use it in the pro account.

Also - bbq time is in full gear. I am going to try my hand at pulled pork. We just moved and plan on having everyone who helped out over for a big meal. Picked up a new larger size double chamber smoker as well. Looking forward to it.

Thanks guys for all the replies.
I have been approved but am still undecided as to which photo to use. I have quite a few that I like that I think might look good...guess I will have to really sit down and think about it for awhile.

We got our replacements for the original 5 damaged canvases today. They are perfect! Seriously, they are pristine. My happiness and satisfaction now far outweigh the dissapointment I had when I saw the first batch.

Fantastic service, fantastic product!

Just a reminder that when you order two of the same canvas at the same time you get 50% off of the second one!

I ordered mine...two 16x24 standard gallery wraps of the wedding shot - one for me and one for my daughter - and my total was $31!

Yaaaaaa!!!! My face hurts from smiling so much! LOL ALL of you are doing TERRIFIC!

(Nathan - SO SO SO glad to hear they made things right for you!)

Mine arrived today and I have to say that it exceeded my every expectation. I am thrilled.

Ignore the fact that it's not centered and is not big enough for the space it's in -- I'm still looking for a final place for it...

ETA: This is 20" x 30" -- guess I should have gone bigger!

How well does the resolution transfer? i.e. I'm not sure if I have anything I'd frame, but my parents just got back from a long trip out west (Grand Canyon, NM balloon festival, etc.) They have a 3 megapixel P&S camera...assuming the photos came out ok (I haven't seen them yet) would that look ok blown up to say 30x40 on canvas?

They sent me the 16x24 of "WaterColors" (they had sent the wrong size, per my note below). It looks even better large. Actually, incredible.

BUT: I mentioned when I talked to them that I didn't get any hanging hardware. The site implies you get that. She said no problem, she'd send it, but their order fulfillment people once again did not.

Did you get hanging hardware with yours?

Didn't know they offered hanging hardware!! No I didn't get anything with my canvas either.

I framed mine with black sectional frames and got some hooks from the arts and craft store to hang. It now hangs beautifully in a gallery exhibition with local photographers :)
