And the exodus continues...
If anyone has site address for Xion, or Nick, or Arcady, or the user formerly known as Ubique (Paul), can you kindly post them?
And nifty challenge suggestion, Christian! Definitely matches my shooting style, especially here. I'll have a plethora of things to choose from, assuming I get my camera and go out looking. :-) I'd love to do something to honor Nick, but I'd need people, and the ones around here dress funny and carry weapons. |

Hello everyone. This is a self serving post to ask for votes for a photo I entered to JPG magazine. You can find it here.
Thanks for your help in advance!

How cute I think I might try to do this. |

Heh! I wish I had pictures of my nephews with me - I'd set it up and send that to them! Very cute. |

That's a good idea. I didn't think of doing it in reverse. I think I'll set one up for my grandson. |

Got some outtakes from Hell in my portfolio (nothing like the entry).
ETA: I didn't want to upset the dpc public or anything, which is why I didn't use any of these...

Interesting. I like the 2nd and 3rd ones best. The fourth one ain't bad as far as accomodations go... I've seen worse here. :-)
There's one in my portfolio called "Exit" which was to be my Hell entry, but I didn't enter. Shoulda. That particular version, though, is not basic edited. Had another with a more lovely glowing orange-yellow tone that would have been the entry. |

Why didn't you want to upset the DPC public?
Go ahead and piss them off. They need it. I piss them off all the time. Just look at my scores! |

I'm considering a 'nothing in focus' theme for all of my entries for next year. trying to decide if its worth renewing membership, just for that. |

I think the DPC public needs their chain rattled every so often - and we ARE TS, we don't care about crappy scores, right?
So i say post pix that challenge the sometimes-too-safe dpc norm!
Edit: PS Raish, I like the Entrance one best.

I nominate our beloved mascot for "Line of the Week" for this one:
Much of the processing I see on this site seems to suffer from some sort of Spinal Tap affliction.

the dpc cage doesn't rattle much 'cos all the captive primates are squashed up together...
I was thinking the squalor might upset some sensitivities (just before I ran out of lower case i's in my thinking box), but I may not have been clever enough in putting over the squalor. Upsetting the poor dears with technical no-nos is taken care of in all my current entries.
I saw your 'exit', Deb, and longed for the warmth of that sun outside. Go figure. |

I haven't been around much lately, though I've certainly noticed many extraordinary photos taken by Team Suck members and was the proud recipient of the Posthumous Red Ribbon for Free Study last month (better than a "real" virtual ribbon in my book - Don, you have no idea how much those things are coveted).
But I have to share some news because I'm so excited I'm shaking! I won best of show for photography in the Charleston Art Guild Winter Show (currently in the Charleston visitor's center)!!! I was shocked to make it into the show to begin with, and I sure as hell didn't expect to win a prize, and I didn't expect to win first place even if that aforementioned place froze over. The prize is $500!!!!
Here's the photo that won (and yes, the horizon is straight in the version I entered, it's just on another computer that I can't access right now).
I think what may make me happiest is that I took this last year with my original lens, and actually shot it in sepia (it's not a conversion). Unfortunately, I was never able to enter it here, because I took it before I knew what RAW files were and the original wouldn't pass the originality test as I uploaded it using Adobe. It would probably get about a 5.5 anyway, LOL.
Anyway, sorry for the horn toot, there are lots of beautiful images here that never get any recognition at all, but I hope it will inspire some of you to enter your stunning work! If I can win, as the saying goes, anyone can.

Now that would be a challenge -- a whole year's worth of artistic blur. (May I assume they would be artistic?) I wonder if you hit the voters over the head with blur for a year, if they would ever come to realize there can be merit in it. |
