I found this guy munching on my cayenne pepper plant... any idea what it is?

| Looks like what we always just called a tomato worm, not sure if the eat pepper plants though. |

| looks a lot like a tomato or tabacco hornworm - they are often found around vegatable plants - and turn into these huge, gorgeous moths |

| Common Pepper Muncher - they're prolific in certain areas of the world. The Common Pepper Muncher is immune to any manner of heat. In fact, NASA is using these little guys to create heat shields for their space craft. That's still in the experimental stage, however. |

In Southern California, we know them as tobacco worm and/or tomato worm. I find them in my wife's garden from time to time.

Not as cool a shot as your original, but here's one a few years ago going to town on a tomato!
And, my gardnerd wife just confirmed in one of her garden books, "tomato hornworm".
