My greatest compliment was winning a national photo competition and having this photo displayed in the Royal Albert Hall in London. What was even better (to me at least) was the fact that a celebrity said he liked mine the best! He was called Jay, and used to present a TV show called smART that I always watched, every week. That felt great :)

I think the biggest compliment I could ever receive is another photog saying, "Dang, I wish I had done that." |

Mine was sending some photos to some of my friends in California that know me from my days as a commercial photographer and having them say "Wow, you still got it!"
I think it may be a bit rusty these days from a few years of non-use though.....

Well, my Blue Dahlia Shot that was a Kodak POTD was in Megapixel.net's Close up and images Gallery this past October. About mid October, the managing editor of megapixel sent me an email requesting permission to release my email address to the Sr. Editor of Popular Photography and Imaging magazine for an article on macro photography they were planning for their Feb. 2004 issue. There were 11 names on the list, some I knew from other sites and from megapixel.net. I said yes and I got an email from Pop Photo requesting prints or the digital files. I sent the digital files for two images, one being Blue Dahlia. I never heard anything back, so I sent the files again a week later. Still nothing. That is until Monday the 6th of Jan. when I got an email from Pop Photo saying that they had published Blue Dahlia and would I kindly send them an invoice....well I'm not holding my breath waiting for the check, but the photo is in this months Pop Photo on page 5. Of the 11 names on the list back in October, only one other and mine were included in the issue. Published and paid....first for each. Nice! |

Don't know if it was my greatest compliment, but it was definitely a bit inspiring that my first comment on my first entry was from none other than Mr. Setzler (who was a bit of an idol on the site where I learned about DPC), saying "excellent view... the pigeon is definitely a nice touch... nice shot :) - setzler". Kinda like having Paul McCartney overhear your song and say "nice tune". :) |

That is my greatest compliment. I have graduated from "Karen takes pictures".

I just rec'd another great compliment that I just had to share!
Another member of this site emailed me saying how inspired they were with 'Panache', that she would like to make it into an oil painting!
We are in communications as she paints.. I can't wait to see the finished result, and hope she will share it with you all.
:)
Scott: That is a nice compliment for you to rec've, and a great compliment that you just gave back to John! :)

Just found out I won third place for the month of January on Steve's Digicams POTD site! My "Fishing at Sunset" picture was the third place winner.
Frankly, there were several for the month of January that I thought better than mine, but it's cool to have submitted a photo that became a winner my first time out! I only submitted this around the 14th of the month, was chosen on the 21st and I've never submitted to any other photo contests aside from dpchallenge!

My wedding photographer (who pretty much got me in to photography too) just bought one of my prints to frame for her house...
