I made two photos today of the same subject. In both shots, the camera is the same distance from the subject and the camera settings are the same.
Focal Length: 195mm
Aperture: f/11
Shutter: 1/90"
Focal Length: 135mm
Aperture: f/11
Shutter: 1/90"
The aperture and the distance to subject has not changed... just the focal length.
Conclusion:
Longer focal lengths produce less depth of field at a given aperture and distance to subject.

Exactly! This is the point, because of lesser Angle of View. The Exposure Tutorial of jmsetzler talk abaout it. You com read it in the tutorials page of DPC. |

Was this ever in doubt ? The one most people can't seem to cope with is if you move so that the subject is the same in each shot, for the same aperture, the DoF is the same.
Lets all say it again slowly, DoF is a function of magnification and aperture, nothing else. You changed the magnification...

Not in doubt.. just posting some photos to support it.

I like your example because it clearly shows the difference. Maybe you could add the pics and statements to your tutorial. |

The links do work, even though the images don't show up directly.
