OK, so blogger.com seems to be the jumping off point for most discussions about free blogging services... Anyone have another service to add?
It seems I like to hear myself type, and carry on extensive monologues with myself. Apparently, this "could" be a reasonable formula for blogging... providing, of course, that anyone gave a hoot about anything I had to say. Neverless, some folks (myself included) just like to hear themselves talk, and (hopefully) sound moderately intelligent from time to time.
So, any alternative endorsements, or should I just embrace blogger.com and give it a whirl? |

Since you (appear to) have your own domain, I'd suggest Wordpress. |

Ah, yes, well... while I do have my own domain my hosting is kind of a gratis thing with a guy at work. As long as I don't ask much more of him things are good. I prefer to keep it that way :)
That said, wordpress does look mighty impressive. |

it depends on how into it you are. I've heard great things about wordpress but also that the learning curve is steeper with them too..

I use blogger.com. It's free and easy. if you have your own domain, you can create a sub-domain like blog.mcmurma.net to point to it as well.

I've been pretty happy with blogger, particularly the beta (that doesn't require the whole site republish thing) and has a load more customisation available.
I also use moving type in a different blog. it depends a lot on if you plan to add a lot of bells and whistles, or just want to actually have somewhere to spout off.
blogger seems to integrate into flickr too.

Try LiveJournal. It's pretty simple to use. With a paid account ($25/yr, same as DPC) or a "plus" account (free, but with ads), you get a Scrapbook account where you can upload and store 2GB (1GB for plus) worth of pictures. |

I use LiveJournal.com
It also allows you to display your blogs in other pages. Has good uptime. And a few extra features if you get the paid account (ie: phone blogs, they provide a number you can call and leave an audio blog - great for ranting about New Jersey every time I drive thru that state I seem to make an audio blog about just how miserable a state the Armpit of America is. *lol*) |
