I can't BELIEVE this photo scored as low as it did. I was the only one to give it ten or a fav. and I'm just in awe of that. what photos have you dazed and confused?

My top pick of the challenge. There is one comment about it being too contrasty that made me laugh.

very strange watching the score on this one
it was up to 6 just a day before the end - got hit by a pile of 4's &3's

?? i geuss it is't high contrast to some people (i thought it was compelling & certainly different ;)

I thought that this one was just beautiful and would have scored higher.

This image by dr_timbo was my favorite from the challenge. I think my post challenge comment sums it up well.

" gave this image a 10 during voting and I'm adding it to my favorites. I really love how the horn player is separated from the rest of the band just by the angle of his body. The way the light brings out the features on his face and the serene look of the closed eyes truly conveys that he is lost in the moment. Exceptional capture."

This should have done way better. Seems "High Contrast" to me, and perfectly composed and executed.

You've mentioned some high scorers for me already. Here are my 10s:

and scarlett, wouldn't it have been so much more impressive if you had let me list your picture instead of listing it yourself?

the fact i don't particulaty like is that B&W photos have won against colored ones, although there are some outstanding high-contrast photos in color ... if you know what i mean :-)

This was my second time entering a challenge. I consistently get a mediocre score. But I guess that is not a bad place to start.

Mine did awesome, I'm super happy about it!

I just don't see what people didn't like about this one though. It was about 140 out of 388. I gave it an 8 and I'm really tough judge ;)

Thanks for the comments Melethia. I like the soft feel also but I did get a couple comments that indicated some people felt it would have been better, sharper.

I thought mine was way underated... so did a couple others...

Here are the views and votes for the top three..

1. Views:(347 during voting)
Votes: 179

2. Views:(274 during voting)
Votes: 164

3. Views:(374 during voting)
Votes: 180

My image was doing better untill the blanket statement thread was started about what is High contrast or critque or whatever it was. That thread IMO totaly distroyed my image.

But what do I know? The votes where tallied and my image got what the 'voters' felt it deserved.

Wow - I've don't think I've ever had one of my photos pointed out in one of these threads - it's good that someone around here has some taste!!!

Oh yeah, Scarlett, I was going to post your pic but apparently you got here first.

You know what... *I* underrated this shot, gave it a 6. I guess I looked at it too quickly. It's actually a really wonderful pile of shapes. Maybe I overlooked it because it's not high contrast, as far as I can tell.

6.16? Don't know if I would call it underrated but I guess you set your hopes where you like. This was a really good shot in a challenge full of not exactly high contrast entries. You should be happy.

only took time for someone to shoot someone else... thanx

But like I said... I got what the 'voters' felt I deserved. What did you think it deserved? You neglected to state that in your opinion that I should be happier with it.

Ya know.. the Title of this thread is 'Post your Underrated High contrast II shots' Not diss someones opinion.

From seeing the 43 images in front of mine, I feel my shot is Underated. as doo a couple others. You dont'. thats fine. But no reason for you to come in here diss me because of my opinion... and tell me I should just be sastisfied with 44th place. Why is it I can't strive for 1st in your opinion?

And your highest score ever!! 6.16 is hardly underrated - thats a great score IMO
If anything I think it was too high contrast, lost a bit too much detail with the processing.

First, you really need to lighten up. I certainly haven't attaacked you.

Second, I thought it deserved a 6 which is what I cast for it. For me, that is a high vote. I'd have voted it higher were it not for the wrinkly bit underneath which distracted from the otherwise pure nature of the black and white with so little gray. It was, as I said, an excellent shot.
