I think it is a very nice shot. As I look through the shots from the competition I see that most competitors construed the competition in two ways 1) high contrast = B&W, and 2) More is better. My guess is that this would rate between 5.6 and 6.2 in a "distant houses" competition, especially if a bit of unsharp masking sufficed to bring it into the normal bounds of DPC tastes of sharpness. Keep on entering. |

I am reminded of Eric Drooker to some extent. Your observation is excellent & I enjoy this urban texture. |

VERY nice shot. For what it's worth I think this is reasonably high contrast. And like melethia, I like the softness of it. However, you should be aware that stopping down to f/25 usually robs sharpness. It may increase DOF, and sometimes you have to do it, but very small apertures run afoul of something called the "circle of confusion": Google it to see discussions. In a nutshell, if you go past f/11 or so (it depends on the focal length of the lens) you begin to get diffraction that obliterates fine detail.

I LOVE Antibes! I spent 5 months there way back when. Great place. Wish I was there right now. |

For what it's worth, I gave you a 7 on this. I really thought it was quite good and I like the soft feel to it. Not sure I'd like it as much if it were in very crisp focus. |

I've been voting on contrast in color or light, and almost failed to recognize the technological contrasts portrayed in this image. I believe that addressing a few minor technical issues could make this a real stand-out shot. Regardless, its so interesting and makes such a statement that I can overlook those nit-picks and say that I like it very much. Nice work. |

I understand the contrast in this photo, and it is creative, but the photo didn't turn out well in my opinion. A clean, crisp photo would have been helpful here. |
