Yeah, I agree, though over here, across the lake in Michigan, you need your long underwear and Carharrt insulated bibs too. Snowshoes are optional depending on the accumulated snowfall.

I took a 14 hour photo trip this weekend to photograph the lighthouse at Cape Flattery, the northwestern most point of the continental US. The one thing I forgot that prevented me from getting the photos I would have liked to get was the little raincoat I made for my camera from a baggie. After hiking down a 3/4 mile trail and climbing up to a lookout, it started raining. It was an awesome sight though. |

Nothing earth-shattering here, but since you asked -
USUALLY - in one case
1 Olympus digital camera (4 MP)
with 256 mb XD card and 4 batteries in it
spare batteries - 8 AA NiMH
spare XD cards - 128 mb & 16 mb (small one because there's nowhere else to store it, except the trash)
lens cleaner "pen"
Olympus flash unit
remote for camera - don't use without the tripod though
twist ties - to be able to tie something back, or hold something together
paper slips with my Webshots and DPChallenge url's to hand out if anyone cares
monopod - use mainly for sports, or as walking stick (not in a carrying case)
OCCASIONALLY - in 2nd carrying case
tripod - more often than the rest of this list (not in a carrying case)
2nd Olympus digital camera (2 MP) - keep it in B&W mode usually - use it as main camera if there's some risk to the equipment - easier to suffer this loss than the new camera
with 128 mb SM card and 4 batteries in it
spare batteries - 4 AA NiMH
spare memory - 64 mb & 8 mb SM - could trash the small card
RARELY
binoculars - around the neck
bean bags - in the car
ImageBank, 2 GB - in the hotel room
ON MY WISH LIST
photo vest (any recommendations, positive or negative?)
Minolta A-1
then all the goodies that can go with the A-1

well, since I am an attorney, and I often like to take photos of people, I bring a authorization of photograph release along in case I ever wanted to use a photo of a person I took in the city etc. I am working on a series of photos of the homeless in Chicago. |
