Ahh yes, here's my outtake for brown, which I almost entered and pulled at the last minute -

And another that I edited very quickly with my new Elements 5. :)

Interesting question, but one that right now is fairly easy for me to answer. At this point, I don't have any technical expertise outside of a good grasp of proper exposure and white balance. As for my eye - I think that artistic flair is something that is added once you really learn the technical aspects of any profession and/or hobby, so while my compositions tend to be fine - got the rule of thirds down, etc. - I can't yet take it that further step into artistry. I'm willing to be patient and keep working, though.

While I would like a higher score, it does meet my personal goal of liking my entries.

Still awaiting word on whether my occupation shot will be DQ'd. Now that I have thought about it, I could easily have gotten the same results differently and not been concerned about validation.

Am still stunned that Occupation doing so well, mustn't jinx myself! AA battery is doing as most of my usual stuff does, starts off somewhere in the 4s and slides from there.

Hmmm...lack of a tripod, a DSLR, big-ass lenses, lights galore, fully equipped studio...!!! I feel the technical left-brain stuff is my weak point. However, I am making an effort to learn and be more aware of not only what I am shooting, but HOW I am shooting, in terms of light, shutter speed etc now that I have a slightly more sophisticated p&s. Before Team Suck, I'd shoot anywhere from 2-12 pics for a challenge; now I shoto at least 30, junk about 98%, then Photoshop what's left and try to decide which one is better.

And I do believe joining Team Suck is a good way to keep your spirits up and gain confidence from a group of similar-minded people. I think the relaxed attitude here is what mentally frees us up to not be afraid of taking risky or unconventional shots. I feel this in turn spurs creativity.

As for the ability to see a shot...I know what you mean. I feel it's something you just have to develop. I carry a camera with me at all times, so if I do see a shot (or think I do ;-)) challege-worthy or not, at least I can try to get it and see what happens. I just try to take lots of pics.

I should know better than to shoehorn photos into a challenge just because I find them "interesting." (Obviously the voters do not!)
Looking at my worst ever score in patters at around 4.5. Yikes.

Hopefully, now that holiday chaos has toned down some, we will get full participation next week. Otherwise, we might have to shuffle, or mutter, or procrastinate about the whole situation.

'Tis indeed a tragedy. Entropy brought in some good results, but didn't pass muster in the numbers department. I at least have an entry in this week, which is something. Should be able to get FENCES too, or possibly centered composition, though that would require financial outlay. hmm.

Blue Ribbon for Team Minus? Maybe they won't want me entering challenges again.. My current Patterns score has climbed up to 4.3, so it might not be my lowest scoring picture ever.

I have some ideas for centered composition, maybe something that'll land in the top 75% of entries.

I didn't enter any of the abouve challenges, but I have a 5.6 in occupation and a 6.7 in pattern. I'll be blown away if I beat my higest score after only a week!

all of my top three pictures are pictures i've taken since i joined the team.

of the six or so challenges that i have participated in since joining most have a score over 5... which is a huge improvment over my work in the past.

i achieved my first 6 as a member of team suck.

i attribute all of these accomplishments to the advice and support i have recieved from fellow suckies.

being on this team and seeing where my photography has gone as a result has convinced me to become a member of the site so i can participate in more challenges and represent team entropy.

thank you all for the help you've given me so far.

Bob - I came across that photo - unfortunately I was eating piece of leftover cake at the time and nearly got sick. I can't imagine there's another more disturbing image in the challenge.
