It's possible that voters are only grouping images at the moment into 4, 5 and 6 and will change later. We can dream, right?

My first vote was a 9. Every other vote has been a 4, 5 or 6 (I'm guessing).

well, regarding the current challenge "rule of thirds" i just wonder why i find it more interesting if the subject is place in the left side of the picture, either upper or lower intersection of the imaginary line. is it because only the right portion of my brain is working? (",)

what d'you think?

i gave 5 or 6 for those photos were the subject is in the right side...

keep in mind, that's still a low number of voters. I thought I had a dpc-friendly picture this time, all gussied up and so forth...

This is irritating. I thought I had a pretty decent shot for this one and it's a 5.00 and no comments.

Do you read from right to left? That may affect the direction your eye likes to follow. Personally, I'm fond of left-heavy images. But I've noticed that the masses prefer the leading lines from left to right instead, perhaps because it's the direction many western cultures read in.

This is a western culture thing since we read from left to right. We expect to be drawn into an image from the left. However, I'd recommend not to discount the ones with the subject on the right just because of the subject placement. (Just my subjective opinion though)

under 5 w/24 votes. (4.9 something)
my free study is under 5 as well. (4.9 something)
silhouettes finished 5.27 - above my average so that's ok at least but it is the worst of the three images!

Hey, I've had 4 horrible average-killing challenges in a row, now pastels and free study are both above 6. Don't give up! :-)

i tried it, but still i didn't get the interest on it... knowing that here in arabs, we are reading from right to left... but worry not... i will try to be fair... (",)

I've turned my scores off for a while as too few votes really messes up the average and I've watched it go from 6.3 w 12 votes to this...

I tend to be drawn to images anchored to the lower right corner, which I believe comes from some theatre training. Long ago I was told that the best place for your primary action was the front right of the stage because it was the place the eye was most drawn to. But the reading left to right explanation is a good one as well. We tend to scan things in a Z pattern.

Left, Right...??? Hmmm...

I've seen some strong images with the subject in the left plane.
and

But then again, sometimes going right side can work too. Like these maybe?
and

BTW - The lowest score for any of the above was 7.268.

Pick a solid subject, and photograph it well, and the image will sell itself - left or right.

Oh, yeah. The talented photographer that took the above images is librodo in case you aren't familiar with his work.

Ok, back to your positioning (more than one type) statements. ;^)

The image itself has to support the main subject whereever it's placed. I was just saying keep an open mind. If the image doesn't work for you in the presented composition then it doesn't work and you score accordingly.

1/3 of the viewers have voted, 1/3 of the voters have commented, and the score is 1/3 of perfect. Since this is the "rule of thirds", is this the ribbon winner?

OK, I'm not really in this, just a little fun with math and food for thought.
