I just saw the interview with Tina on the news. I sure hope someone taped it to give to him as a reminder to TELL SOMEONE WHEN YOU ARE OFF CHASING STORMS. Great interview Tina!

I didn't see anything regarding Steve on that link,

however, click on the news tab to see this station "Calling all photographers: Send us your weather photos!"

Steve definitely should send them some lightning photos.

I think I read he uses that somewhere, but not sure if it's AIM or not.

For those not following the whole thread, I received a call from Daryl, who personally spoke with a Pinal County Sherrif's deputy who saw and spoke with Steve around 02:30AM on the 30th. Steve apparently was out in the Superstitoin Mountains to get some lightning shots, and was dozing in his car.
This is a bona-fide sighting, and he was fine at the time, but he still has not returned to Mesa.


Wow...just woken up...reading from where I left off last night It's been a rollercoaster...

I'm confused about the police sightings - one post said a police officer spoke to Steve, the other says no one spoke to him. Am I reading it wrong?

It is odd- I thought it was the same instance but why would one person say waiting for lightning and another say wasn't spoken to at all?

edit to say- probably just miscomunnication but definetly odd

Yes Laura -odd

Mesa police department talks with his sister and verifies his car was seen at 230am on july 30th. They said that it appeared that someone was in the car sleeping but they did not talk with this person. But from police description they think it was him.

Wow the rumors are flying!

Update: I received a call saying Steve's car was called by a Pinal County Sheriff officer about 2am on the 30th by an officer that normally works the gold canyon area. Upon receiving the news I left work and headed out there because I know some areas he likes out there. After checking one spot I saw two PCSO officers and stopped and talked. Long story short, they figured out which officer called it in, contacted him, and it turns out the officer saw Steve's car with a person matching his description sleeping inside. Yes they verified he was breathing. This is a great place to take a nap, and I guess a lot of people nap there, so the officers don't wake people up. We went by the same area and there was no car there. We are going back out there tonight to see if he returns.

It is a great spot for photography and lightening shots, but it's only a guess that's why he was there.

THe only thing we know, Someone matching steve's description was sleeping in a car at 2am on the 30th. It's great news, but it brings up more questions. He has not been found or contacted.

We also got in the house today and we are in contact with Steve's son and sister. Nothing major, but his pool que is there and his camera is not.

Also, his story has aired on at least one news channel (chanel 12).

Been a long emotional day and it's not over yet.

Edit to add that they did not speak to him, they just verified he was breathing and let him sleep. We never contacted the PCSO to be on the look out for him (oversight). They will now be notified to stop him is they see him again.
