On Sunday it was 103, and I was in a boat in the middle of a lake trying like hell to paddle at more than 65 strokes per minute. I was actually starting to feel sick and they hauled me back to shore, dumped me in the lake and then left me on shore to recover, which mostly entailed drinking a bottle of water before busting out my camera for the beach challenge. Heh...
Today it was cooler, only 97... I was in air conditioning all day, but I did go buy a new swimsuit, and now that the sun has gone down and the temp cooled off a bit for the night, I'm going to go waste some time in the hot tub. After Last Comic Standing.

High of 77 and no sun in sight all day here. Never thought I'd be so happy to see a dark, rainy, cloudy sky.

I guess 85-90 and humid year round is ok, 50 % of the time..LOL |
Yeah, I miss St. Thomas, VI, never got below 74F, of course the summers were hot and humid, but it was always nice in the shade and there were (was?) always plenty of swimming and boating opportunities; however, I never missed the cold, I actually thought it was chilly below 79F
edit, grammer, is it "was" because plenty is singular, or "were" because opportunities is plural ???

sunny and 75 here in Santa Cruz, CA. Beautiful and perfect out. Whether $1000 a month for a 500sq.ft. apartment is worth that...i don't know.

At 5pm 93F, 34C in Victoria, and a balmy 86 at my computer. Tomorrow's supposed to be hotter, then a slight cooling.
The trouble here is that it doesn't get this hot more than a couple days a year usually, so houses aren't designed for it. Lotsa windows to bring in the sun and wonderful scenery, no such thing as air conditioning! |

I believe "were" is correct because you're using plenty to describe a plural. Then again, I have occasionally known to be wrong! (Just don't tell my hubby that.) |

hmm, I'm not sure.. because if you say "a flock of birds," you use singular for the flock because that's the subject... but then, I guess if you say, "there were a lot of birds" so I guess you're right BeeCee, I think lot would be closer to plenty... still sounds funny to me either way |

Haha, I'm usually a really good speller and speaker and such, but for some reason I always want to spell grammar like graham cracker, so the e a thing gets me every time
Thanks for the english check
I think that my peeve words are mostly contractions such as "it's, its, their, there, they're, your, you're" and other little things...
and yes, it's still pretty hot |

Hooray for cool basements.
Of course, I love the sunshine don't get me wrong. Gotta get that Vitamin D.

Easiest way to figure this out is to eliminate all the modifiers and various conditionals: would you say "there was opportunities" or "there were opportunities"? "Were" is correct.
