My 3rd worst ever.
First entry with my 30D.
I hope there's no connection.

Monitor calibration can be one of the reasons ... or maybe trolls like to lurk around this entry :)

I should clarify that I give originality great consideration more than I do the technicals(image quality). I don't have any hard fast rules but generally the cliche/tech shots bum me out a bit.

No prob...everyone can vote as they please.

I was just taking a tongue-in-cheek poke at all the comments ("I do this...", "voters should that...", "I'm giving bonus points...", etc.) on voting (preferences/etiquette/attempt to influence) type threads going on recently. ;^)

I'm really disappointed in this challenge.

Wait a minute - does that mean you would score them differently if you were not suspecting them? What about the quality of the pics in their own right?
OK they are not all ribbon winners (including mine, unfortunately), but I believe a well-composed, well-exposed, sharp image taken at night should not be trashed because it doesn't say WOW.

Look at her average vote given. she is not penalizing anyone.

This is another shocker for me. Didnt expect to see a 6+ score first morning. I dont expect to see this go up dramatically. Wouldnt mind a comment or two though.

Sigh: so which one: Noise Ninja or Neat Image? Seems like the perennial question although I think NN may win it for me.

I bought Neat Image while doing this challenge, because I knew my submission would flop without it. It is absolutely amazing, and I don't know how I lived without it (I'm still a newbie though). Supposedly both programs give very similar results; I bought Neat Image because it was $10 cheaper for the high end version.

and with the scores...

Just don't use too much! You might want to read my book on Neat Image.

I am pleased with this....a lot better than my last couple entries. Maybe I am finaly starting to understand DPC voters. Then again maybe I got lucky, and DPC is impossible to understand.

I haven't voted the whole challenge yet. But I have a theory on the low scores shown so far - a lot of shots are out of focus (hand held long exposures don't work too well); a lot of shots are 'scenes' that have been done over and over and frequently; some shots don't really have any discernable subject. Then I saw a small percentage of shots that could have been shot at anytime since nothing in them indicates the sun has set yet other than perhaps the title.

Just a theory...

It'd be nice if the voters for the night challenge would COMMENT! If you like a photograph enough to give it a 7 or higher... Why not tell the person why? And if you think it blows enought to give it a 4 or below... Likewise...? Hmmmmm....

I'm at a 5.6970 by the way...

I comment on the photos I score high and the ones I score lower I tell why. Average votes, I don't tend to comment. Would be nice to know why people vote low as it would really help the learning process.

Ive been watching mine slid up and down the scale from 5.0 to 4.9 to 5.2 now sitting at 5.1...

Hey somebody just gave me a 6....this is just not good enough...I am too used to getting 3's and 4's on this image....waarrrghghg....I want some more 4's...and if you are feeling really generous...some more 3's would be great.
