The State Flower of Texas, the Bluebonnet is in bloom again. Time for all the Texans to get out and show us your best. Here's a couple I took today, one with a bee and one with a ladybug.

Is this a "show me yours and I'll show you mine thread"?

No, I think that was this one...
But I think Texas is the "Show Me" state. ....er, it's either that or "Only Two Things Come From Texas" - I could be wrong. I could also be shot. |

Very nice, Don! For those of us with pesky day jobs that take up all our daylight hours, you'll have to wait a bit. I'll try to get out and find a few this weekend, weather permitting.

Ours aren't blooming yet...hopefully the few little sprinkles of rain we've had the past month or so will allow them to come up soon. I can't wait! Until then, here are some bluebonnets from last year.

Here's a field, and yup this years crop, 2006. Not a lot yet but a little rain and then they'll be everywhere.

Okay, not a Texas Bluebonnet, but it's northeastern cousin, the Maine Lupine.

OK, Don, where did you find those?? I must live on the wrong side of town. All we have right now are the low-growing pink sorta-but-not-morning glory things. |

There are a few growing along the 1604 NW side of town, not many. I found these just inside the gate to Six Flag Fiesta Texas. They have been watering so they didn't need rain like everywhere else. Maybe after the drizzle this weekend and a few sunny days they'll be everywhere. Need more rain to make them real good. |

ALRIGHT, finally some rain, it's pouring outside now with a great lightning and thunder show. Now if we can get a couple of days with sunshine the bluebonnets will be great. |

I saw some the other day in someone's yard, they are so pretty. But I don't have the nerve yet to ask ppl if I can take pics of them or their stuff haha And I don't know of any public places that have them around here...My Redbuds were nice :)...although my photography skills need to be improved haha ;-)~
Sorry for the huge pic and not doing the thumbnail, not sure how yet...

Great pic. After you download the pic into your DPC portfolio and click on it, you will see in the link it has a number at the end. Copy that number. Now go to the message page. You will see the last icon on the top with a little pic and a big pic. Click on that and insert the number you copied. You can then write your message either before or after the code that is input for you. Go to preview, if it looks good then hit post. Real easy but confusing the first time. Good luck. |

Thanks, I'm not a paid member as of yet. Not sure I'll ever be half as good as most here, so waiting before I put any money into it. It's a fun place so far though! |

I heard on the news today though that the flowers this year will not be that great around San Antonio due to the lack of rain... I admit that it appears to be true. |

We get lupines in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona, but not this year... It has been so dry there literally is not a wildflower to be found beyond a few sparse brittlebush. That is a far, far cry from last year when the image above was captured.
