First I'll say, I'm soooooooo NOT a fan! Wrong generation, wrong, well, lots of things. Anyway - being the total photographic opportunist, I took advantage today of a body guard's love of cameras and got to creep really close to Mr. Wayne Newton (insert *faint* here). I had the 70-200 in the camera which was perfect because close wasn't VERY close!
Now the question of commerce - he's a celeb. Can I sell these? I told the muscle man (who was HUUUUUUUUUUUUGE) that I wasn't pro! :)

Celebrity 'images' are basically copyrighted or trademarked. Their image is part of what makes them who they are in the entertainment industry. You can use the images for yourself and in your own portfolio fairly freely, but you can't use him as a form of endorsement or a source of revenue.

What if I sell them postumously? I mean the man is a zillion, right? Sorry, don't mean to sound rude, but I think he's older than Mick Jagger! lol Anyway, I'm still giggling at the fact that I headed out today to shoot Florida wildlife and ended up with shots of Wayne Newton!

C'mon guys - we have time to kill before rollover. Lets laugh at Wayne Newton!
Danke Schoen, darling Danke Schoen.
Thank you for all the joy and pain.
Picture shows, second balcony, was the place we'd meet, second seat, go Dutch treat, you were sweet.
Danke Schoen, darling Danke Schoen.
Thank you for walks down lovers lane.
I can see, hearts carved on a tree, letters inter-twined, for all time, yours and mine, that was fine.
Danke Schoen, darling Danke Schoen.
Thank you for funny cards from Spain.
I recall, Central Park in fall, how you tore your dress, what a mess, I confess, that's not all.
Danke Schoen, darling Danke Schoen.
Thank you for seeing me again.
Though we go, on our seperate ways, still the memory stays, for always, my heart says, Danke Schoen.
Danke Schoen, Auf Wiedersehn, Danke Schoen.

YES! And blue haired people in bifocal sunglasses and socks with sandals. He was performing at Silver Springs in central FL. A tiny little park with a huge concert stage. I wonder why he would be at such a remote location - he's filthy rich.

I did a google to see if he was still alive. hehe. I guess I get him mixed up with Liberace(sp?) for some reason.
No mention of him being in Florida. Maybe he needed a vacation from sunny Las Vegas. lol |

Idnic, I too am not a big fan of Wayne Newton.
However, to make fun of a man that has paid his dues is not very appealing.
You were able to sweet talk past a guard to get some nice pix, and then promptly turned your experience into an anti-Wayne Newton rally.
Let me put it to you this way... After years of putting forth your best foot, and finally getting the recognition that you have been after with your studio work, and the fluff on DPC, I would think that you might want a little respect as well.
You don't have to like, but respecting is huge as a pro.
Secondly, Public Domain I think is in affect here. Just like papparazzi, you could probly take your images to some paper, or mag and see if there is interest. But, I don't think they would be interested since every tourist in LV probly have similar pixs. To sell a celebrity pix you need to find some human interest.
