how bittersweet it is...oh, how i would have liked this to ribbon, and damn, to come so close. oh, well, that's the way it goes; congrats to those ahead of me and behind me on another great dpc challenge!
for me, i was just glad to have something to enter. as i typically don't have time to shoot specifically for challenges, it is rather serendipitous for me when a challenge meets up with an assignment i've had. this was one of those perfect occasions...

Damn, Skip! Another inspirational story! I love reading the stories behind your shots, and especially love to hear about your successes. I think this will lead to more success for you, but I think it'll turn out to be just another stepping-stone, as you continue up this fantastic road you're building for yourself.
Well done, Skip.

Skip, that is so awesome!!! WTG DUDE! :-) Couldn't happen to a nicer or more worthy guy. You bring such humanity and care to your art/work, that it truly shines through when viewing your images. It's obvious that they've picked up on this as well (and who wouldn't). Congrats and I can't wait to see where this goes! |

thanks, ya'll!
one more note...
about the 'setup'. i am quite sure there are many ways to set up this shot to make it perfect, and who knows, maybe i'll try for that some time.
however, as for this image, it is what it is basically because i shoot close to 120,000 images a year. while there are some truly gifted artist out there who really know who to measure out a shot, i don't consider myself one of them. i consider myself to be one of those who simply have to practice, practice, practice, and practice in order to get where we want to be. for me, there is no substitue. the more i do it, the better i get, and the better prepared i am to take advantage of opportunities like this when they present themselves. |

Seriously, You need to start writting! I love the stories behind the shots as much as the shots themselves. Hopefully this is another step (in a string) that leads somwhere bigger. It's great to see a down to earth approach getting somewhere. Keep the stories coming, as I am always looking for the next one..... |

That shot is nothing less that amazing, awesome, breathtaking, inspiring....and that's just for starters.
