I have been getting a lot of requests for postcards with some of my photos on them. I have decided to have some made and I'm not sure how the back side needs to be designed. Is anyone here doing this who would be willing to share some design ideas?

Personally, I like it if there is a specific area to write the address in, and put a stamp in. A box is nice. Otherwise, I tend to not leave enough room for either thing and then it gets messy looking. Box is on upper right corner for stamp, and middle down on the right for the address traditionally

On one of the corners (usually top left or bottom left), there is a often bit of information (photographer, place, etc) which is nice so the sender and especially the receiver know what they are look forward.

Good luck!

hey setz,

I've never made 'professional' (whatever that means) postcards, but I photoshopped one for my girlfriend once.

All I did was take a regular postcard and looked at what they had written on the back, then photoshop my version. They're pretty easy to reproduce. I chose to have a image on the back, but very very light (so you can easily write over and see), that way its not just a blank background. You'd have to print it on a stronger paper.

What a great idea!

Very nice, clean and simple. :)

May I make one suggestion if you don't mind. Add an extra line to the To: side. When I send postcards overseas to family and friends, depending on postcard, I sometimes have to draw in an extra line to fit the address.

Just makes it a little more convenient for the user, therefore more likely to purchase more postcards! :)

On a related note, if anyone has a need to make one-off postcards, I have used //www.amazingmail.com in the past and have been very impressed with their quality. And it is very convenient as well - just design your postcard online with your images (you can even use accent images on the address side) and send away.

I especially like it for travel - you can send postcards of your own images while still away. Very cool. I think it is still right at about $1 per postcard, which includes postage to anywhere in the world.

A post card exchange has been tried on dpc Postcard Exchange
I thought it pretty successful... I got a dozen or so very nice cards, and few disappointing "return to sender" but overall it was fun. My only real disapointment with it was that it was short lived. Mail addresses seem to be a bit of a problem. I am always game for receiving and sending cards.
