Perhaps I'm the only food freak out here, but I'm always curious what my fellow DPCers are eating. Last night I made a snapshot of my supper, and today I'm posting it up. This is a salad garnished with slices of rare steak, red bell peppers, and home-cured olives, among other things.

I'd love to see others contribute shots of their suppers, as the spirit moves them. It's probably a futile request, but I'd like it if this did not turn into a joke thread on "gross food" but rather just continued on as an occasional glimpse of what our community puts on the table :-)

Today Pete and I went out for a huge lunch with friends of ours...

I had a prawn cocktail starter, involtini of veal (veal stuffed with spinach and mozzarella) with roast potatoes and spinach with garlic, amaretto icecream (which I shared) and a few cafe lattes. Oh and a midori liqueur on the house.

The others had:-
for starters bruschetta with fresh tomato and garlic, grilled sardines, squid in a piccante tomato sauce
for mains two pizzas with varied toppings and chicken with a cream and mushroom sauce plus same veggies as me
and there was another dessert, a creme brulee too.

Oh and some beers and bottles of wine etc.

:o)

Well, not from anytime recent, but I have done this before ...

12/23/2005 04:27:58 PM · #10

This was last week. It was terribly difficult to pull off, but I managed not to burn myself making it!! The empty spot on the left is reserved for at least 1 cup of ketchup.

This is not recent but I am always taking shots of food I prepare. My husband just walks in and shakes his head.

Robt, that looks yummy. Making me hungry
GE, that is too cute. Bet your kid loved it
Langdon, I love those kind of green beans and FF's too. Chicken or fish or what? :)

I don't take many pictures of food...which is odd because I sure love to eat! I guess these can explain to the world my secret for keeping my girlish figure. ;)

this would make a good challenge if no one has suggested it yet --

arrange a unique meal and photograph it.

Have I mentioned that I *CANT WAIT* to eat with you Bear? My hubby and you together will be quite a pair.... Not cooking tonight, but I'll post a pic of his Christmas Day Leggo'Lamb roast with Cream Cherry Port Sauce on Sunday. :)

Don't bother critiquing the photo, I know it's lousy. I only uploaded it to add it to this forum thread.

This is a raclette, currently our favorite special occasion feast.

The top plate is used to cook meat and vegetables, and the little pans are for melting slices of cheese in the lower section under the heating element. The cheese is then traditionally poured onto boiled potatoes
which you eat together with the goodies you cooked on the top.

Don't worry about the mountain of food - we don't manage to eat all that, but leftovers for lunch are always welcome the next day.

WOW - I'm impressed with the culinary expertise!

We ordered out pizza. ha ha ha Last night though, I made a roast, mashed potatoes, gravy, a huge salad (baby spinach, romaine, grape tomatoes, carrot slices, bell pepper rings) and whole wheat rolls.

Tomorrow night: spaghetti.

Hah, this is fun! Maybe I'll get motivated to shoot the progress of our Christmas Roast Duck. What tickles me most about this thread is that it actually lured Langdon out of his lair with his camera; that's very rare in my experience :-)

Note to notesinstones: bring him ON baby!
