I haven't had time to read the whole thread, but I'd volunteer to help as best I could.

I imagine this has already come up, but I think it will be important to have a guideline for the volunteers to follow. How many of us actually know how to write insightful, detailed critiques? I don't think I have ever written one. It might be useful to post 4 or 5 test pictures and have volunteers submit critiques... Then these critiques can be critiqued :)

And I thought we were going to join politicians as having the only jobs "for which no preparation is thought necessary."

Substitutes:

If you have enough volunteers, reserve a few each week on a rotating basis for substitutes. Devise a way so that people on vacation could find their own subs. Administering the critiquing could be a full time job. A mass email that says: "This weeks subs are so and so."?

General, i don't have you down as actually volunteering... do you want to be on the list?

John, I do, but prudence dictates that I wait a while...especially since it sounds like you have enough to get started. I'd rather see what you're actually going to do and make sure I can do it...my schedule gets kind of flaky this time of year and I don't want to be backing out later...
If you're going to put up some examples, I might change my mind; also if the number is 10/person or less I could probably manage, but talk of 20/person sounds like too much...
Off to work...I'll check back in about 4 hours...
One more idea: ask D&L to set it up so we can see a page with all of each reviewer's critiques gathered together, maybe with thumbnail images. If I get a review from someone, I'd like to see what their style is, even if folks are following some guidelines.

Paul, with you on the list, I have 25 people. That should keep the photos per person to around 10-13 max, even if we critique everything in a large challenge....

OK, I have 25 volunteers now. If anyone else would like to be on a waiting list for this group, please let me know....

My next post regarding this project will be in a new thread...
