Can you enter an image that is of a metal statue, sculpture/cast or an artisan piece of metalwork? In other words someone elses art?

I would say not someone elses artwork.
Edit: Copied from the rules.
Literal photographic representations of existing works of art (including your own) are not considered acceptable submissions, however creative depictions or interpretations are permissible.

You can take a pic of a statue or artwork as long as you aren't shooting it flat-on with no other elements that make it unique. Your use of lighting, angle, surrounding elements and such are what make it a completely different image and not just a literal representation.

Doesn't really look metalic to me!
Maybe cz of the contrast against the B&W sky!
Metalic and shiny survaces are kinda hard to shoot, cz of the reflections, therefore not what I call an "easy subjcet to represent" |

I entered this in a challenge and it got hammered. I'll never enter a statue again. I'll only shoot artwork for my own, touristy pleasures from here on in... unless there's an artwork challenge someday.

Here's a couple of threads where this subject has been discussed before, if you're interested. I was looking for one where I thought scalvert had used the Mona Lisa as an example...couldn't find it.

I don't know if this depiction of Jesus-child can count as art (I think it is scary and in bad taste), but it is most definitely metallic
shot at the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, CA

Here is my favorite statue entry. It didn't do that well but I just thought it was so perfect for mother's day that I couldn't resist. ;)
