So, what did we decide? Will one person do or must there be more than one person in the photo? I like shooting people, although I am learning how to improve in this area.

Here are a couple from past challenges, would these get rated down because they are not group shots?...

Well I was just about to post the same thing - so far of the few who actually voiced an opinion it seems pretty evenly divided. Of course if 50% of people vote an image with just one person down that shot isn't going to do very well :).

I'd now really like to know more definitively - because I have a couple of shots I really like with only one person in them.

It just seems a bit funny that a shot with a single person would not meet the challenge, but an image with one person as the clear focus, that happened to have another person blurred out in the background would meet the challenge??

You won't find a definitve answer in the opinions expressed in the forums threads, nor is the majority of those opinions a reliable guide. Read the details and use your own judgement, intuition, guess, etc. If the entering photographers and the voters both read the details and use that as their guide, then at least both groups will be working from the same starting point.
