Thanks for all of the comments. This man is an interesting story, I have known him for several years. At one point, I tried to help him move out of his situation and into some permanent housing through a non-profit organization in the area, but he was too used to his way of life. To me, his face reads of all the wear and tear associated with the dificulties that poverty brings.

Nice portrait of an old man. Does it show poverty though?

Would like to have seen more of his surroundings to give a better feel of why he is an example of poverty. Great expression.

Fantistic Portrait, great depth of emotion. As a straight photograph, this deserves a very high score. I have reduced a few marks because I feel that it does not evoke poverty enough or me.

I wish that you were able to get more light in his eyes (but I understand that it is hard to do that when taking a candid). He has so much emotion in his face, and I wish it wasn't cropped off, it would've impacted me more, personally, to see more of his face. Great choice of subject!

My only 10 of this challenge. You've met the criteria with a face that tells a life's worth of a story. Maybe a little too much red though.

You cropped him a bit harshly. Very interesting and sad face. 7.

good capture of expression...i might have either went out to capture whole face so I would not cut off the beard and top of head...or more likely framed the eyes and their deep lines and expression more...

what strikes me here is that even though this man has obviously seen a lot of life, he still has enough pride and self-dignity to keep his beard and mustache trimmed. excellent capture, one of my top picks for the challenge. good luck!
