 The family and I were out taking pictures at the local marina. My wife an youngest son got out of the car to feed the ducks as I waited in the car with my oldest son looking around, scanning for photo opportunities. My window was down as I watched several people fishing. A young man who is out of this frame was standing, casting his rod then reeling it in over and over as he keeps doing this with no luck. I guess he was using artificial bait. Then my eyes fixed on an older man just sitting on a five-gallon bucket with his rod in the water just watching his cork. Immediately I took my camera and snapped this shot as discreet as possible. After getting home and processing the photograph I saw what made me what to take the picture. In my mind I was comparing the two, young and old, fast and slow. And how sometimes just sitting back and letting things come to you is better than casting at shadows.

Scott,

Nice photo, I would like to see it cropped a bit tighter and also possibly clone out the guard rail. But, it would get a 6 or 7 from me pretty easily, maybe even higher.

I love the expression, the framing, lighting, color, and bokeh. I'm afraid I find the guardrails distracting. Even in the thumbnail I found myself asking 'what's that sticking out of his head?' Still, nice shot.
